Overview

My name is John Taylor. I’m a PI for hire in the Nightside, the dark and corrupt city within the city of London. Where the sun never shines and where pleasure and horror are always on sale—for the right price.

Not a nice place to visit or a nice place to live. So you wouldn’t think I would care that it was about to be destroyed, by none other than my very own long-missing, not-quite-human mom.

But I do. I was born here, I live here, and I got friends here. They might not all be acceptable in polite company, but they’re my friends, nonetheless.

I know that I’m the only one who can stop her. The trick is, how to do it without fulfilling this prophecy that says whatever action I take, not only is the Nightside doomed, but the rest of the world will soon follow…

    I love Simon Green!

WOW!I love all of the books. I love the way he stopped relying on his reputation in the past few books and really started proving it! Stealing the air out of peoples lungs!!Who thinks of that but John Taylor?!It was really awesome and I hope there are more because not alot of books compare to the Nightside.

    Wow

I so enjoyed this book- the Nightside is such a wonderful place to visit. With every book, the characters become meatier and more interesting. I particularly liked the way the ending did not really end the series- there are many directions in which this series could go and I certainly hope that Simon R. Green intends to take a few of them. There are still loose ends to tie up.

    Unbelievable!

He does IT! Simon Green manages to Destroy Nightside and yet not. The series continues. Taylor finds his mother, her plans and a way to thwart them without destroying Nightside. The Authorities are revealed, Walker is exposed and Nightside reveals most of its Secrets, or does it? He tied up his loose ends, he revealed hearts where none existed and the story is just as satisfying. Best of all, the series can be continued. John Taylor survives and doesn't have to rule by Mommy's side over Nightside.

    Excellent Nightside thriller

In the heart of London accessible to only a few people lies Nightside, a city within a city. It is a dark and gloomy place, where magic works and creatures from myth and legend as well as humans reside there. One of the residents is private investigator John Taylor who with a friend has just returned on a journey to the past where he finally learns who his mother is. She is Lilith, Adam¿s first wife, who created Nightside, as her domain where the forces of Hell and Heaven can not travel. --- The gods that are worshipped in Nightside are her children, begotten by consorting with demons. When she became too dangerous, a spell was cast banishing her to Limbo but now she has returned and wants to remake Nightside and the Earth in her image. John intends to stop her using any means available and gathers a wide array of characters to help him defeat his mother. Everything they try fails and it looks like the nightmare from John¿s trip to the future is coming to pass. In a last desperate attempt to save his city and the world, John is prepared to sacrifice himself if a plan he thought up actually works. --- Nightside is a place people who are attracted to the macabre will want to visit but is not a place one can stay too long because it casts a hold on you so that the visitor will never want to leave. John, who has been hounded for years because of the prophecy that he will destroy Nightside, is willing to die if it means his city will survive. Simon R. Green has written a captivating tale starring heroic and endearing character whose thoughts when he is in danger are hilarious. --- Harriet Klausner

    I love John Taylor!!

Calling all Harry Dresden fans! This series by Simon Green is awesome! If you love Harry, you will love John Taylor. All the books leading up to this one were awesome too! Great storyline and great characters!

In this one, John is coming to war with his crazy god mother. I won't spoil the end, but some of my favorite characters were brought back for this one, besides Suzie Shotgun, Dead boy, Pretty poison, Razor Eddie! Love it. I can't tell you enough about this series. It is a must!

    Brilliant

This book is one of those books that will keep you up all nighr long. The story is compelling and the characters are crazy but likeable. The only problem I had with the book was that the climax of the book was condensed into about 7 or eight pages and felt rushed. That however was merely asmall blotch in my opinion that didn't take away from the book at all. I am addicted to this series and I believe it is a must read series for anyone who is looking for something unique and interesting to read.

This book was fast, short, to the point and had a fast and furious ending that crashed burned and exploded at the same time. It was awesome. PERIOD.

    I Also Recommend:

War has finally come to the Nightside.

Just when I was starting to tire of the struggle between John Taylor and his mother Lilith, the long awaited war breaks out in all Green's twisted glory. This novel brings together all the odd, strange, and scary characters we've been introduced to and slams them into the fight of their lives (or deaths in some cases). An incredible ride, "Sharper Than A Serpent's Tooth" reintroduces the reader to the eternal possibilities that exist in the Nightside.

I like this one better when it was called Shadows Fall

This book is nothing but Shadows Fall in a multiple book format. The book series drags on and on, and doesn't go anyplace. I was highly disappointed, and I feel this is just a publishers stunt to rake in more money from the consumer, at 6.99 a book at our local bookstore this whole series could have been condensed into one book. That book would then be called Shadows Fall!
