RT Book Reviews
The third book in the wonderful Sophie's Daughters series has romance, wit, charm and feisty characters. Connealy was born to be a writer - her novels always have some sort of surprise for readers to discover and keep their interest.

Seasons of Humility

One thing is for sure--Mary Connealy knows how to write a fast-paced and exciting Western romance! I sped through this book faster than if I was the one being chased by a group of ornery outlaws. And what a race to the finish it was!

Steeler Girl
If you like Sophie's Daughters or any of Mary's other historical romance series' you will really enjoy this book especially since (I think) it features every character from Montana Marriages and Lassoed in Texas. Sharpshooter in Petticoats not only gives Mandy the ending she deserves but reunites all the characters we know and love in a fashion that only Mary Connealy can pull off.

Her Write of Passage

Mary Connealy writes such adventurous and fun stories that suck me in from the get-go. She is so good at starting off her books with action that hooks me fast and keeps me turning the page throughout the book.

This is another great book from Mary Connealy and you won't be disappointed! Well, maybe disappointed in that it is the last in this series, but I'm sure she has upcoming books that will knock our boots off!

I simply adored this book! It was the prefect culmination to two (three?) series! I loved how it pulled every character from each book and while keeping each true to their character made them each a part of the story.

Abbie's Reading Corner
I will be honest I would not wait to get to this book. I enjoyed the entire series but Mandy was interesting to me from the beginning. I felt so bad for her in the 1st book and sad for her in the 2nd. Now I wanted to see her finally have her turn and the author did not disappoint. The author uses some characters from past series to aid in this book. I found myself wanting to go back and read all about them as well and I hope to here in the future.

Come Meet AusJenny

This is the third book in the series Sophie's Daughters and just as good as the previous books. Right from the first page there is drama and it just keeps coming.

This book has all the hallmarks of Mary's past books with the humor, drama and the bad guys everything a historical western should have. I would love to see these books made into a series or movies as they would be well worth watching. It is also good to see women portrayed as strong which is what women in the west needed to be to survive. A great read and I am sad to see the series end.

Love My 2 Dogs
I will say that this book did not end how I thought it would and I do have to say that even though all the books in this series were awesome, this was by far my favorite book in this series. There is a lot of action in this book and never ever a dull moment. I had a hard time putting it down.

The Book Buff
Sharpshooter in Petticoats is, I believe, the third book in the the Sophie's Daughters series, but it was the first one I read. I absolutely enjoyed it and never felt lost or that I'd missed out because I hadn't read the previous books. I did get very interested in the other character's stories and I can't wait to read the other books. If you enjoy a good western, I'm sure you'll enjoy this book. The characters are rough, gruff and often down right mean, the action is good, the scenery is beautiful and the romance was practical yet sweet.

— Kaitlyn Lindsay

Once Upon a Romance
Mary Connealy has a wonderful, unique way of intertwining an action-packed romance with tears and smiles (even LOL moments) and a bit of mystery and inspiration. Mary mixes them all together and provides you with hours of enjoyable entertainment. The book reads so fast that you hate to come to the end, especially when you’ve made some friends that you may not get a chance to visit again.

Another delightful twist is the way Mary pulls all three series (Lassoed in Texas, Montana Marriages and Sophie’s Daughters) together. Most of the main characters have been woven throughout all three series in some fashion and Sharpshooter in Petticoats reunites many of them giving us a glimpse into their lives.

I highly recommend reading all three series; they will give you hours of great entertainment.

Word Up!
Sharpshooter in Petticoats” by Mary Connealy is the third installment in the Sophie’s Daughters series, and had me laughing out loud from the very beginning. I have been waiting with baited breath for Tom Linscott’s and Mandy Gray’s love story. And from page one, this novel promises to be a wonderful read as Tom arrives at Mandy’s ostentatious home to bring her to his ranch after the death of her husband, Sidney. When Mandy refuses to leave because it would be too dangerous for anyone to have contact with her (even after several breath-stealing kisses), Tom threatens to kidnap Mandy’s children (as he instructs the young’uns to call him “Pa”) to get her to follow him home. Mary Connealy cracks me up! Meanwhile, the Cooter gang has plans of their own to kill Mandy and her children and pilfer Sidney’s fortune. So, when Tom steals Mandy away just in time, the suspense builds as the Cooters follow along to exact revenge and acquire Sidney’s gold.

The story is lively with snappy dialogue and vivid images. Connealy’s trademark humor and dramatically contrasting prose make this an enjoyable read that passes way too quickly. It is also a pleasure to be reunited with the other McClellans as they plan visits to Mandy at her mountain fortress. This Mary Connealy novel is an absolute joy that lives up to the reader’s expectations – and then some.

Night Owl Reviews
Once again Mary Connealy has continued this series with a woman who is not afraid to use a rifle but knows how to aim right. Mandy is stronger and determined to begin a new life yet the feud has brewed to something stronger and deadly. Trying to stay alive is her first mission but knowing that she is the reason Tom’s life is in danger is too much for her. Mary Connealy did a great job on this one for Mandy came out stronger than ever, while in the women in the previous books seemed a bit weaker to me. This is a series to enjoy.

    Love this book!

Not knowing this is the last book in the series I just feel in love with all the people in this book! I just love Mandy and her courage and when ger family comes to help it brings tears to your eyes to see how close this family really is. When I finished it I noticed on the cover the names of all the books before this one and ordered them and read all 6 of them in a weeks time including a re-read of this one! This series is a keeper, loved all of them. Enjoy

I simply adored this book! It was the prefect culmination to two (three?) series!

Marooned. In a castle set in the middle of nowhere. A self-imposed imprisonment, but imprisonment just the same.

For the last two years Mandy has protected her family from the vultures that were out to annihilate them. She managed to keep her kids alive if not her husband. But when the others she loved stared to get hurt she sent them away and hardened her heart.

Tom Linscott fell hard for Mandy just after she moved to the area and though he wanted to just take her husband out of the picture he waited -- and was amazed that Sidney lived so long. Now, though, Tom's sick of waiting, he's going to rescue Mandy from herself.

A MUST READ!! SHARPSHOOTER IN PETTICOATS BY MARY CONNEALY....

RATINGF: 4.5)SHARPSHOOTER IN PETTICOATS by Mary Connealy is an exciting inspirational historical romance set in Texas. It is the third in the "Sophia's Daughters" series, but can be read as a stand alone.See #1 "Doctor in "Petticoats" and #2 "Wrangler in Petticoats".What a wonderful conclusiong to the Sophia's Daughters series. This story brought back together some of the characters from the previous books. It Mandy and Tom's story. While both Mandy and Tom are not only stubborn, but are also a force to be reckoned with. They will have to fight to survive, escape a family feud, and Mandy will have to learn to trust her three children and herself to the handsome, determined Tom.This story has romance, love, trust, forgiveness, family, and of course faith. It is a must read and was a great way to bring Sophia's Daughters to its conclusion. As always this author will not disappoint. This book was received for the purpose of review from Net Galley and the publisher and details can be found at Barbour Publishing and My Book Addiction Reviews.

    Terrible!

I have no idea why anyone would give this book more than one star! Cheesy at best. Mandy, the main character, is a total idiot. She lets men force her into marriages she disagrees with and is basically a "lunatic", as the author so aptly describes her. She makes the same miscalculated judgements throughout the book. There is never a climax to this book and I barely was able to finish it. I loved "Doctor in Petticoats". This book does not even come close to being as good. Sorry I wasted my money, and I won't do it again!

A bang of a finish to a great series -

Yep, Mary has ended this series with a bang. All I can say is that I'm glad she still has some books that I haven't read yet because I really do enjoy her writing. Throughout this series she expresses faith just through the few thoughts each woman has when they get in a difficult situation. You can just tell when they each repeat their own special thoughts (words of faith asking God to protect them and their loved ones) to themselves that they know God is with them. In this book also she shows how close a family can be even though they are miles apart and only feelings and emotions to communicate one of them needs help. This book seemed to be the most action packed and the best one of the series.

Amazing book. I have known the characters for so long from this series and other series, that it was awesome to see them finally get together.
Mandy Mclellen has become known as "Lady Gray" by those around her. To protect herself and her three children from gold-seeking outlaws, she has holed herself up in the mansion her worthless first husband built. When Tom Linscott hears about this, he climbs up a cliff to rescue her--and she refuses to be rescued. So, naturally, he "kidnaps" her children, forcing her to join him.
Mandy does not want to involve this poor man in her life, which will no doubt get him killed.
This book is awesome. It's full of action, romance, and perfect comedy. Mary Connealy is a genius. I would be lucky if I could write only a tiny bit like her.

    Loved it! A must read!!!

The last in the series for Sophies's Daughters is one of the most enjoyable books I've ever read! I find Mary Connealy's writing to be adventurous as well as inspirational and very humorous- I can never put her books down! You will laugh out loud and cry all the way through and be sad when its over because you feel like these characters become family during the time you spend reading it. My eleven yr old daughter also enjoyed this book, so I think anyone can enjoy it. I also thoroughly enjoyed reading the Montana Marriages series, as well as the Lassoed in Texas series. I have loved them all! Mrs. Connealy delivers another beautiful story, as usual!

    Sharpshooter Hits The Bullseye!

Mary Connealy writes such adventurous and fun stories that suck me in from the get-go. She is so good at starting off her books with action that hooks me fast and keeps me turning the page throughout the book.

There are many characters from her previous books in Sharpshooter, which I enjoyed seeing again, and Mary's ability to weave these characters in while staying focused on the main plot is truly amazing.

Both Mandy and Tom are stubborn people who butt heads from the very beginning of the story, but their chemistry together is sizzling and makes for some great scenes! Sigh...I love a strong hero who can be gentle in his dealings with the woman he loves.

This is another great book from Mary Connealy and you won't be disappointed! Well, maybe disappointed in that it is the last in this series, but I'm sure she has upcoming books that will knock our boots off!

    I Also Recommend:

    Finally, Mandy's Story!

Mandy Gray and her three children had been living with her no-good husband for years before he went off and got himself killed. Instead of this being good news, though, it leaves Mandy the prime subject of a family feud between her husband and the vicious Cooter clan. When long-time friend Tom Linscott comes to rescue her and the kids out from under the fear of being killed, Mandy is convinced it means death for him as well. Fortunately (and unfortunately) for Tom and Mandy, both of them are strongly stubborn. And they both know they will have to work together if they want to survive.

*sigh* A Mary Connealy book. Always such good reading. It feels as though I've known these characters for years now, like my own friends of the family. I've watched them grow up and marry off and start families of their own. Been on adventure after adventure with them. It is one of the reasons I enjoy Mary Connealy's books. This latest book (and the last in the Sophie's Daughter's Trilogy), was not my favorite though. For some reason I just wasn't into the story as I was with Beth and Sally. Perhaps because in the previous books, Mandy's story was always on the sidelines, little teases here and there about her terrible situation and the strong woman she was having to be in order to survive. So when we finally push everyone else to the side and get to see Mandy's story full-time, I was expecting more of the same feelings from before. They just weren't there. Not that Mandy is not an incredibly tough, independent woman. But the way she interacted with Tom was simply not interesting enough for me. The best scene in the whole book was when the reader finally gets to see just how sharp a shooter Mandy really is. I would have liked to see more of those shots! Still, Mary Connealy is no stranger to finishing a trilogy, and expertly wraps this one up with happy endings all around.
