Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Feminine relations are the key to this fifth title in the "Guardians of Ga'Hoole" series. In this novel, the focus is on the character of Eglantine, rather than on her older brother Soren as in the previous novels, as the author explores the relationships between nature versus nurture, the mirroring effect of a substitute mother, female best friends, the role of the female warrior in owl society and the difficulty Otulissa has in forgiving her female nemesis Dewlap. In this story, Eglantine has been having strange dreams, which make her yearn for her deceased parents. Her refusal to accept their deaths makes her vulnerable to manipulation. Meanwhile, the rest of the owls of the Ga'Hoole tree having repelled one attack by the Pure Ones, which was led by Soren and Eglantine's evil brother Kludd, are trying to strategize on how to prevent another attack. Readers new to the series may find Lasky's immediate immersion in the story disconcerting, as there is a great deal of vocabulary and plot history to understand. However, the fantasy's strong believability and fascinating plot make this series a must-read for fantasy-lovers. 2004, Scholastic Inc, Ages 8 to 12.

This book left me shattered in a good way.

I loved this book so much! It always had something new with Eglentine. First she was dreaming about her mom. Suddenly she is flying to meet her, or is she? Read the book to find out.

The best book I ever read.

Every new book of Guardians of Ga'Hoole is brand new adventure. In this book Soren isn't the mane, his sister Eglintine is the mane charcter. Eglintine has been having dreams of her mom. Every night she had been training to fly to the treacherous territory known as the Beaks. One day she and Ginger flew to the Beaks. When Egglintine finds her mom she visited her every night. when Primose notices that Egg. leaves she follows her. Egglintine later finds out that her mumu was not her mum it was Nyra, mate of Soren's older brother Kludd. Egglintine and Primose find Nyra's egg and uses the egg for power. when the chaw of chaws finds them Nyra starts attacking them all.Nyra chases Egglintine when she droppes the egg. Then when the egg broke Nyra went yeep. When they all return to the great tree they are to go to the nothern kingdoms.

    The Calm Before the Storm~47

Hey guys!!! I just read part one of Time of War at the Lightning Thief! It was pretty good. There is also a annoucement at the calm before the storm res three. Please check that out! Next part will be at Guardians of Ga'Hoole series #6: The Burning. This part will be in Jay's pov. ~~~~~~~~~~ The expolsion burnt my right arm. My skin had been seared off. I cried out in pain. I really wished Merida was there. She would've hugged me and told me everything was going to be alright. But she wasn't. I missed her. The fire didn't catch on to anything, so there was still no light. Camille crawled over to me and gasped." Jay, what happened!?" I shook my head," I'm fine. Just a little burn." Camille didn't look convinced, but she dropped the subject." I saw three figures over there." She pointed to my left, into the darkness. I squinted trying to see anything over there. Nothing. Complete darkness." Maybe it was just a halloucina-" I was cut short by a small grunt and a flash of light. I turned around and there on the ground was the slumped body of Simon. He was leaning againest a overturned table. He had a huge knot on his head." Um...what was that!", Austin whispered to me." Maybe a um good guy? I don't know." Austin shook his head," Or maybe your girlfriend." I thought for a moment, then nodded." That does make sense." The lights, suddenly, turned back on. There was nobody in the large courtroom, except for us and the unconscence Simon. The old people dicided to go up to the dragon's cave. Thats when l remembered Jackel and Jonas. They were still up there battling that beast. I don't know how long it had been, but they probably couldn't hold out this long." Yeah. But be careful! There is a dragon up there.", Kolby said to the elderlys. They nodded and wabbled for the tunnels. The dissapeared into the little crawlspace." I turned to Kolby," Hopefully they know how to get back up." He laughed as if imagining them roaming through the tunnels with their weapons raised, looking for a fight. Benny, the Cyclops, whimpered. Austin looked at him and asked," Whats wrong?" Benny answered," Bad lady and bad demigod girl under the ground. They are chasing good demigod girl." I looked at the Cyclops in amazment," How did you know that?" Austin answered," Cyclops have very good noses. They can smell any living thing even if they are under fifty pounds of rubble." Benny smiled and rubbed his nose," Benny have good idea. Huddle up!" Benny pulled all of us in to a huddle and told us his plan. Lauren and Amber both gasped when he let us go. Austin patted Benny's arm," Not so hard, buddy!" Benny smiled. ~~~~~~ I hoped you liked it. SEA

    Ga'hoole

I think this is one of my favorite books in the entire series. It's mostly about my favorite character in the series,Eglantine. Tied with her is Coryn , he is not in the book series yet. They are both caring and are related. Eglatine is Coryn's aunt. In this book, Eglantine is tricked into thinking that Nyra is her mother( Nyra is Coryn's mother) spys for the Prue Ones. But she doesn't mean to. To learn more about the The Shattering ,for crying out loud read the book!
