This is the third book about Ayesha,"She Who Must Be Obeyed!" However, it is not really part of a trilogy. SHE and AYESHA (aka: The Return of SHE)although written twenty years apart are directly related to each other. This H. Rider Haggard work written another twenty years later, and published four years before his death,is actually a forum for the author's belief in Spiritualism. The Nook copy I read was 756 pages and was padded out to allow the combining of Allan Quatermain from Haggard's KING SOLOMON'S MINES with the 2,000 year old Ayesha. I enjoyed the story which is a sort of prequel to SHE, but getting to the meeting of the main characters was drawn out. Then it becomes clear the purpose, like with some of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's work i.e. THE LAND OF MIST with Professor Challenger, was to expound on the hereafter in Spiritualist terms and express the author's views. Overall while not Haggard's best work I would still recommend it to the reader with the above being taken into consideration by them.
