Meet the Author

Born on the prairies, Jason McIntyre eventually lived and worked on Vancouver Island where the vibrant characters and vivid surroundings stayed with him and coalesced into what would become his novel, On The Gathering Storm. Before his time as an editor, writer and communications professional, he spent several years as a graphic designer and commercial artist. Jason is the author of more than two dozen short stories, several novellas and full-length fiction.

Currently, Jason is hard at work on a novel series about The Night Walk Men, based on the novelette of the same name.

His latest full-length novel, THALO BLUE, is out now!

Synopsis:

A young man on the brink of true adulthood, Sebastion Redfield experiences an extreme, life-altering trauma when a trespasser breaks into his home. Sebastion and the psychiatrist assigned to help him recover from the break-in begin to unravel a more disturbing truth about his ordeal: that someone or some thing has been following Sebastian for some time...and he has no idea what kind of power and determination it has to ultimately find him.

Shed was my introduction to Jason McIntyre. I enjoyed the story and becoming familiar with McIntyre's style of writing. As with any great author, when the story ended I wanted more. I started Shed not having any idea what to expect, and I was happy to find myself liking the main characters, reluctant to stop reading even for a few minutes, and seriously interested in how it would end. Its very rare(for me)to find an author that can tell a story so well that I am willing to invite him/her back into my head right away with a another book, but this story was just the beginning. Jason McIntyre has an open invitation to tell me as many stories as he can write...

Dark and highly disturbing, there can only be one author who would drive seven hours through a midnight hailstorm to creep you out: Jason McIntyre. In the style of "On the Gathering Storm", "Shed" takes you to a place you don't even want to think about, and then throws you a life raft. In "Shed", our heroes come in the form of two boys, victimized by a step father who scares them more than even the monsters in the basement. And monsters there are.no spoilers! McIntyre's style is, as always, so much money in the bank. He's using horror and suspense techniques, but his books are one-million-percent character driven. And he's not afraid to "go there"; many elements of "Shed" are completely raw and hard to read. But even for the lily-livered among us, there is a strange note of hope that works; like how chocolate and bacon somehow make a good team. "Shed" itself is more short story or novella than book, but it's a great introduction to his style, and a fabulous indie read. And at this office, he has a cult following of one. Simon and Rupert stand for that kind of childlike summer innocence, so of course it makes the story terrifying under the circumstances. And since "Shed" is short, I recommend it for anyone looking to try out McIntyre's style like a delicious sample at Costco. But the good ones, not like when they try and hand out grapes.

This is a short read but it's packed with creepy goodness! Simon and Rupert, the main characters, are young boys living in a heartbreaking situation. On top of the loss of their beloved father, they are dealing with an abusive stepfather and the family lives in near poverty. As if that isn't enough, there is something horrible living beneath their home! But this book isn't all sadness and horror. The boys have a resilience and love for one another that transcends all their difficulties. Go ahead and download this one. You won't regret it!

This novel captures you from the very beginning. The last thing I expected was what was actually happening to those boys down in the basement of their home. I will not spoil it for you, but I just know that the moment you start reading, the pages will pull you in and you will not be able to stop until the end!

What a wicked and patient tale. The boys are as real as any you've met...and their horror is too. I ached for them...until the end. But I won't ruin that for you!
