Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble Staff
Using very few words (sheep, jeep, thud, mud, heap, cheap), a tableau unfolds in which five silly yet distinctive sheep futilely attempt to ride in their jeep. Amusing details-such as the tattoos on the pigs' arms-abound in the pictures. Apple's expressive illustrations and Shaw's minimal text make this an extremely clever read-aloud.
Publishers Weekly - Publisher's Weekly
``Beep! Beep! Sheep in a jeep/on a hill that's/steep./Uh-oh!/The jeep won't go,'' is a fragment of Shaw's jaunty verse, heartily dramatized by Apple's colored drawings. Ages 2-5. (Oct.)
"The bright-colored pencil drawings and lean text make this a great choice for preschool storytimes, as well as for beginning readers who want a funny story."
