Overview

THE RETURN OF SHERLOCK HOLMES is a collection of 13 stories, originally individually published from 1903-1904, by Arthur Conan Doyle. The book was first published on March 7, 1905. This was the first Holmes collection since 1893, when Holmes had "died" in "THE FINAL PROBLEM". Having published The Hound of the Baskervilles in 1901–1902 (although setting it before Holmes' death) Doyle came under intense pressure to revive his famous character. It is the Park Lane mystery - the murder of the Honorable Ronald Adair - that brings Holmes back to life and the search for the second most dangerous man in London. The following short stories (and the date they are set in) are included in this book:
The Adventure of the Empty House (the return of Holmes) (1894)
The Adventure of the Norwood Builder (1894)
The Adventure of the Dancing Men (1898)
The Adventure of the Solitary Cyclist (1895)
The Adventure of the Priory School (1903)
The Adventure of Black Peter (1895)
The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton (1889)
The Adventure of the Six Napoleons (1899)
The Adventure of the Three Students (1895)
The Adventure of the Golden Pince-Nez (1894)
The Adventure of the Missing Three-Quarter (1896)
The Adventure of the Abbey Grange (1897)
The Adventure of the Second Stain (Jul 1888)
