Children's LiteratureTaking children clothes shopping is never an easy task, especially when your child is a hermit crab. Sherman had outgrown his shell, but had grown so used to it that the last thing he wanted was a new one, especially when his mother refused to buy him one of the cool shells like all of the other crabs were wearing. Sherman finally agreed on a green shell that was a perfect fit, especially after his mother promised to take him to Urchin Express. Colorful illustrations fill this fun book and the story is a quite accurate depiction of how difficult it can be to take children shopping for clothes. The text is fun and easy to read and Sherman's encounter with a human in the tide pool presents a charming conclusion to the story. At the end of the story, information is given about the author and the illustrator and how they come up for ideas about what they write and draw. 2004, Crabtree Publishing, Ages 5 to 8.
