Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Suzanne McElfresh
Sheryl Crow rocked a full house at this 1999 Central Park concert, gettin' by with a little help from her friends. And what friends they were: Eric Clapton, Sarah McLachlan, the Dixie Chicks, Keith Richards, Stevie Nicks, and Chrissie Hynde. Crow proves herself a hostess with just the right combination of sweetness and might, jamming through her radio hits -- "Everyday Is a Winding Road," "My Favorite Mistake," "A Change Would Do You Good" -- with her taut, versatile band and her trademark powerhouse vocals taking center stage. The Dixie Chicks are first among the guest lineup, boosting "Strong Enough" with sweet harmonies and a countrified lilt, while Stevie Nicks...

The Dixie Chicks are first among the guest lineup, boosting "Strong Enough" with sweet harmonies and a countrified lilt, while Stevie Nicks nails a knowing, commanding version of "Gold Dust Woman" and Sarah McLachlan sails her silky, stirring vocals through "The Difficult Kind." Good as this stuff is, though, there's no denying the absolute power of Eric Clapton, who tears the nonexistent roof off the proceedings with a snarling, searing "White Room," then tosses off an irrefutably epic guitar solo for good measure. After that, Crow and friends respond the only way they can, with a free-for-all romp through Mr. Bob Dylan's "Tombstone Blues," rocking and stomping the show to a satisfied close.
All Music Guide - Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Most concerts in Central Park are an event, and Sheryl Crow designed hers to be an event with a capital E, performing duets with Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Stevie Nicks, Chrissie Hynde, Sarah McLachlan, and the Dixie Chicks and releasing it as Sheryl Crow and Friends: Live in Central Park. The set list boasts all the hits, good selections from The Globe Sessions, and several crowd-pleasing covers.

    A great live album

This album is so awsome, Sheryl sounds great, and her guests make it a really fun cd to listen to. The BN reveiw says something like, 'she's pushing so hard, she can't nail the songs'. Sure some of the songs don't sound the same as they do on her studio albums, but they sound almost better. They have more edge. She and her back up band make a great team. It's a great cd, personaly my favorite, and Sheryl Crow does define Rock 'n Roll.
