If you missed it the first time around, KOD Daphne winner “Sex and the Serial Killer” is back with a new title, “She’s Gotta Be Mine”, and a slight text revamp. But it’s still laugh-out-loud funny, peopled with hilarious characters in the small town of Cottonmouth, California. Not to mention an alleged serial killer who’s too devilishly handsome to ignore.

Book Description

Dumped? For her husband’s high school sweetheart he hasn’t seen in twenty years? Roberta Jones Spivey isn’t going to lay down for that. Instead, she reinvents herself and the new Bobbie Jones—new haircut, new name, new attitude—follows her soon-to-be ex to the small Northern California town of Cottonmouth.

What better way to show him—and his sweetheart—what he’s missing in the brand new Bobbie Jones than taking up with the town’s local bad boy—who’s also reputed to be a serial killer. Nick Angel is devilishly handsome and sexy as all get-out. In a word, perfect.

It’s all going exactly according to plan...until a real murder rocks the little town of Cottonmouth. Of course, Nick didn’t do it...did he?

“She’s Gotta Be Mine”, previously published as “Sex and the Serial Killer”, is a contemporary romance of approximately 100,000 words / 400 pages. The book contains the following bonus material:

Excerpts from “Dead To The Max”, Max Starr Series, Book 1, and “Twisted by Love”, Reincarnation Tales, Book 1 by Jasmine Haynes and “Baby, I’ll Find You” by Jennifer Skully

I liked this free book. The editing was pretty good. At times it was laugh out loud funny. There was the usual angst as found in all romance books. There is a nice mystery, a few curse words, some moderate violence, a murder, or two, or was it three? I am not a plot spoiler! I liked the characters. This book had just the right amount of details and a really good conclusion. There was some church attendance, but no preaching or religion. NOW..... to the subject on everyone's mind.....SEX! I have read bodice rippers which were worse. Here lately I have read books which should have been labeled erotica and were not, and romances which had no sex what so ever. This book has sex, lots and lots of hot steamy sex. Even the old people. When not having sex, it is being thought about and talked about. The sex in this book is pretty explicit, but not in a nasty, pornographic, eeewwww type of way. Sure, it could be toned down a lot, but I did not find it disgusting. It was just a little too much info. I really liked the mystery. It was unusual. It was not who I thought it was and it was not why. Then it was and wasn't and I only partially right. I love it when I am kept guessing. There a few curse words. Nothing major. This is a chick lit, murder romance. For ages 18 and up because of adult content. AD

I really enjoyed this book - the small town is great, the people are quirky, and there is a touch of mystery, and a lot of romance, that keeps the story moving.

I have mixed feelings about this book. I thought the overall premise and plot were pretty good and interesting. I enjoy reading about small towns and its quirky townspeople. What I didn't get was Roberta/Bobbie and her 1) obsession with her ass 2) crazy need to help her husband reconnect with an old flame 3) follow/stalk said husband to small town 4) try to save husband from deranged old flame! And while I enjoyed Nick Angel's character, I didn't like how he let everyone always think the worse of him when they had no reason to. I mean to think that a person is a serial killer just because he was a rambunctious teenager and did a supposed adult film is just plain ignorant. So, it had its good parts and it had its really weird stupid parts. Didn't care for Bobbie's character at all but it was a pretty good read, lots of action, plenty of mystery and a few sexy scenes with the crazy sexy Nick Angel himself.... SR

Roberta has been married for 15 years but their marriage has become stale in the last few years. When her husband, Warren, sees a psychiatrist he is told to find his high school sweetheart so he can find closure since he never got over her. Roberta helps him find her so he goes to meet the old flame in the small town of Cottonmouth. He decides to stay with the girlfriend, Cookie.  Roberta is stunned by this and doesn't know what to do. Finally she decides to remake herself head to toe and even her personality. She decides the new person she is now is not a Roberta so starts to go by the name of Bobbie. After quitting her job and ending all ties in the city, she moves to Cottonmouth to show her ex what he gave away and get control of her life. When she rents a house across from a serial killer, Nick, she thinks he will be the perfect man to have sex with and rub it in her ex's face. I enjoyed this book and all the twists of who was using who and why. The murder surprised me but I loved the way the author took the reader through many suspects before we find out who the murderer actually was. The characters were great (except for my minor annoyance with Bobbie's self doubt). The hunky neighbor Nick was a great guy that I really liked. I felt bad for him being so unfairly treated by the town. Warren was such a wimp and treated Roberta so badly that I just couldn't like him.  And he was pretty dumb on top of everything else! He confessed to the murder even though he didn't kill the guy! Cookie was a self centered witch that we aren't suppose to like and I didn't. I liked this romantic suspense with it's fun plot twists and recommend it.

This book was so good I immediately bought Book 2... It was funny, sexy, and I did NOT figure out who committed the murder until he/she was exposed... Well written, fun characters and a kooky town full of interesting folks... Really enjoyed the read and didn't want to put it down once I got into it... Don't like bloody who done it's but this one was handled very well by the author...

I'm only at chapter 2, I think ... and already I'm tired of the author taking me by the nose and leading me around. I don't need to be reminded when I see things like Cottonmouth, that it reminds the lead female character of a condition following having smoked weed.  This type of leading by the nose has happened several times. I'm perfectly capable of thinking for myself, thank you. I can make the association without your pointing it out. Also, what woman is so desperate for a man that she goes through the transformation the lead character goes through to get her estranged husband back? Seriously?! After what he did?! And you want his rear back?! She moves to the same town he moves to, to be with his new squeeze ... to get his sorry tail back! Are you kidding me?! This must be fiction, because surely women don't do these things in real life.

Heroine was a bit annoying at times. It was cute, laugh out loud at times, mystery, sexual tension. Great free read but doesn't interest me enough to read more.
