THE FIRST TRIMESTER

1. She's going to have a baby — Congratulations!

But along with all those knowing winks and slaps on the back comes the realization that you're going to have a baby, too. Isn't that just great —Well, isn't it —?

2.If this is all so great, why do you feel as if you're about to have a breakdown.

Your wife hugged you to her chest and whispered warmly into your ear, You've just made me the happiest woman alive. Okay, maybe she didn't ex-actly do that, but you read the message in her eyes. You reveled in it, felt yourself swelling like a hot-air balloon-but you felt a distinct tugging, too, as if you were being held down, tethered to sandbags.

Sure, the first golden moments after finding out are greeting card-ish. All the things you ever thought would make her happy — the ultimate tumble in the sack, a diamond ring, a home with a yard-are nothing compared to this. She's ecstatic, out of her mind. And you already feel queasy. Why? Because you feel responsibility looming above you like some ominous storm cloud. You can hear crashing thunder; she can't. You see lightning; she doesn't. You're taking the keys out of your pockets so you don't get electrocuted; she's not. You find the difference in your re-actions very disconcerting.

Your best remedy here is simple: learn from your wife. Don't look too far ahead or you won't appreciate the moment. Sure, take measures. Start saving (now!) if you're already worried about college tuition. But don't get so caught up in planning and plotting that you can't see the great beauty you've helped to create.Nobody can take that away from you.     Perfect for Expectant Fathers

    I got this book for my daughter's fiance when we learned she was pregnant. At first I thought it was just a funny book on becoming a dad. I found to my delight that it is MUCH more. It supports, guides and reassures future dads through the months of pregnancy. It shows them what to expect in all areas of pregnancy including the vital questions about sex. It's tasteful and funny, but also tells him what he can do to make things easier for her. For the caring man, this is an excellent guidebook. I highly recommend it!

    Guys! Read this book for guaranteed help in understanding what your woman is going through, how to deal with what you are going through, and how to make it easier and even enjoyable for both of you!!! No, I am not kidding.

    I bought this book for my husband when I was four months pregnant and (after I read it)left it in his bathroom. He is not much of a reader, but to my surprise, he read it from cover to cover. It is written by a man who has been there and survived with his sense of humor intact. The author has a surprisingly wonderful way of explaining all the ins and outs of pregnancy and childbirth without boring the reader at all, in fact it is very humorous and entertaining! It also takes a lot of the confusion and mystery out of the alien behaviour the pregnant woman exhibits and how the man can help make her more comfortable, reassured, relaxed, and most of all, not pissed off at the man! Ladies, this book also helped me to understand a lot of the feelings and thoughts I had while pregnant, and helped me cope with them while laughing all the way! My husband says 'It lets guys know what to expect over the next nine months, so there are few nasty surprises.' PREGNANT WOMEN AND THEIR MEN..BUY THIS BOOK!

    Man's Guide to Pregnancy

    I was looking around online one day for baby books and came across this one. I realized that I had plenty of books for me in my cart but none for my husband. I figured 'why not?'. I got in the mail along with my books and was reading through it before I would present my findings to my husband. It caught me on the first page; next thing I knew I had my high-lighter out pointing out which parts I want most focused on! The author was entertaining and informative. He created a new perspective for pregnancy. Most people just automatically think of the woman when the word "pregnant" is announced, but it takes two to make a baby. It also helps the man understand more about what's going on with his loved one. All in all I would recommend this book to any man who's spouse is pregnant or anyone women who wants their man to be able to understand what's going on with them. It's a wonderful book.

    Great book for father to be!

    Bought this book for my brother in law for my sisters first child.
    So funny, but gives the correct information. Dad's need help too!

    We Loved This Book

    I thought this book was too funny, and DH loved it too! While it did seem a little chauvinistic, it put a humorous spin on the whole experience and let DH know that he was not alone in any of his feelings.

    A comical view of meaningful advice

    I first bought this book for my son when they were expecting their first. It was meant to be a tongue-in-cheek look at the reality of pregnancy's effect on every aspect of their relationship. He's not much of a reader but enjoyed the satirical advice and insight into the ongoing changes in their lives. They had some good 'belly-laughs' as he shared some very funny parts with his wife. Since then, '5 years ago', I've given this book to every pregnant couple, 'gay or straight' that I've known. And I'm here today to replenish my supply.

    Only for American men

    This book was not helpful to my husband at all. It is solely directed at American men with all their prejudices intact toward women. The author expresses the opinion that women are just silly and emptyheaded, especially during pregnancy. Very few of the suggestions were helpful. We read the entire book cover to cover hoping to find something helpful and ended up throwing it in the trash. We're still looking for a book for him. He'll probably just read my book, What to Expect When You're Expecting. It doesn't have all that nonsense in it.

    Ladies, BUY this for your man!

    Give him a clue on what it's all about! And help him to understand what you're going through and how to support you without sounding like a broken record.

    don't take pictures!

    If you ignore the advice about taking LOTS of pictures of your pregnant wife, and the bit about giving her a gift certificate for a BIKINI WAX!!! like this is what she's worrying about when trying to deliver your child's huge head, this book has some funny and interesting stories and suggestions.
