Terra is shiftless --- a werewolf uncomfortable in her own animal skin.

A decade after learning to squash her wolf and flee the repressive village where she grew up, the packless ache still gnaws at Terra's insides. But despite her yearnings, she struggles against being reeled back into her old life.

To Terra's dismay, her father and half a dozen of his henchmen finally ambush her and demand her return. Yet they do offer one way out --- hunt down her nephew Keith, teach him to shift, and bring the youngster back into the fold in her place.

Problem upon problem piles up as Terra strives to do her father's bidding. The female shifter has hidden from her wolf for so long that she finds herself unable to change back into canine form, and she also realizes that her nephew is too good-natured to survive for a minute walking in his grandfather's footsteps. Plus, there's an alpha standing in her way who's equal parts enticing and terrifying.

Will Terra be able to relearn her werewolf abilities --- and overcome her morals --- before her father steals away her hard-earned independence? And as that tantalizing alpha reels her in closer and closer, the question becomes --- does she really want to stay away?

Don't miss the first book in a series that has been described as a "good choice for Patricia Briggs fans."

It does read like a YA novel, but to me, that is not a detraction from its value. I am 43 and I sometimes like a good fun read without two chapters of steamy nonsense when what I want is plot. This book keeps flowing naturally without any boring filler or inner goddess nonsense. The rules of her Werewolf society are inserted seamlessly as needed, without distracting the reader from the characters or the suspense of the situations. If you are looking for a fresh new look at werewolves this is a good series/book.  If  you Hot steamy scenes, then this book is not for you , but the author does portray the romance and an emotional and physical attraction/longing very well.  A real page turner.

I started reading the stories ofAimee's shifter world with this one. As soon as I finished I found everything else in the series as well as signed up for her email list (a first for me). The characters are fun and even the villains have legit feelings. The stories are fun to read and I look forward to the next one.

Shiftless by Aimee Easterling is a paranormal story about Terra, a werewolf uncomfortable in her animal skin. She's without a pack. She relied on books to get her wolf fix. Until she met a wolf on a leash in the city. "The reality was that I had fled my home pack a decade ago to prevent a forced mating. And even though the packless ache in my stomach was a constant reminder of what I'd lost, in the light of day, that pain still seemed like a good trade for my independence. No way was I going to let a momentary slip rope me back into being an alpha werewolf's pawn--I needed to get out of this wolf's sight immediately." I gave it five stars. It was a riveting, page-turning book and I enjoyed Shiftless.

I believe this book is YA but I have to say it really seems more than that! Once again this writer does an amazing job forming these wonderful characters quickly! It is not hard to feel the emotions of the main character as she struggles with who she is when out on her own. Everything about this book is well thought out and the storyline flows seamlessly. It moves along quickly which I enjoy even though others may not! A great book. That everyone should give a read!

I finished shiftless. I loved it. it's different from any werewolf story I had ever read. I was expecting blood and guts but instead found wonderful metaphor for how unique people come to know themselves, harness they inner monsters, and finally move into their rightful niche in the often dysfunctional "packs" with which they run. You don't have to be a werewolf to relate to the story. Still I think it would be an an enjoyable read for people with werewolf mania.

Good characterization of realistic personages. Storyline is a bit different from the usual. No gratuitous erotica. I liked it a lot.

A great story with several twists Action and twists and turns in the story line all the way through Wolfie is so believable and I really like him with Terra as she struggles to find herself Chase is also great, but so are a lot of the other characters in this story

I loved Terra and Wolfie! I really enjoyed this story about Terra, a lone wolf and Wolfie, the alpha of an outcast pack of wolves. This book was a great concept in having a lone female wolf that is strong and independent. Terra ran away from her pack at 17 and hasn’t looked back since. When her father does find her he issues her an ultimatum for returning to the pack. Terra has a chance encounter with Wolfie in a bookstore and again when she goes to meet the nephew she didn’t know about. Wolfie shows her that there is more than just bad alphas. Terra learns more about her wolf, Wolfie and true pack life in a short time. It’s a sweet story, I loved Wolfie and his backwards nature as much as I loved how strong Terra was.

I really enjoyed reading Shiftless. It had its serious moments but also had a humorous angle which I loved. Terra is a strong female lead that won't let the traditionally male dominated hierarchy dictate the course of her life. The loss of her sister set her on a path of discovery, from a nephew and brother in law that she had never met, to a pack of outcast werewolves that wouldn't be accepted anywhere else. If you like reading paranormal books with a romance angle, you will definitely enjoy this one!

I really enjoyed reading Shiftless and quickly signed up for Aimee's newsletter.  After getting a copy of Bloodling Wolf, the prequel to Shifless, it helped understand Wolfy's character more.  I loved the interaction between all the characters, except her father!  This author brings her love of nature into all of her stories.  If you are looking for a pleasant read, then this story of for you.  Since reading Shiftless, I  have read all of this authors stories.  Can't wait for the next one in the series.
