Overview

Andie Marks, known as “Party Girl” in her college days, is now a whip-smart lawyer on the fast track to success. Determined to move on from a bad break-up, she joins her girlfriends for a wild bachelorette weekend in Las Vegas, promising to let her hair down just this once.

Vegas is a blur of cocktails and blackjack, and in the middle of it all she meets Mack, a real-life cowboy with a winning hand and an irresistible body. They get lucky in the casino and luckier back at the hotel, a hot night of passion that was definitely not part of Andie’s life plan.

By dawn Mack is gone and all she has to remember their one-night romance is a hangover and a pile of casino chips. Or so she thinks.…

This is such an amazing novel! The writing is hilarious and well done. The love story and characters have depth and charm that is lacking in so many romance novels these days. I read this 300+ page book in just a few hours because I could not put it down. A definite must read for fans of romance and love!

I had high expectations about this book based on the great reviews, but it ended up being quite mediocre. Some reviews mentioned it is hillarious, but I found the humor to be too forced and on your face rather than 'smart funny'. The story is interesting and had potential but I could not connect with the heroine. She and her friends behaved and talked like sorority girls and never acted like the professional, emancipated women they were suposed to be. To make it worse, she did not have a backbone with the a**holes that she dated, allowing them to walk all over her. And the only caring, respectful man she meets is the hero of the book and she uses any excuse to dismiss him and her feelings for him. What can I say, I'd rather read about a more inspiring female character. Not worth the money.

This is one of the best books I have read in a while. It took me less than 2 days to read the entire thing because I couldn't put it down. I actually laughed out loud when reading the part of Andi in the casino (my husband thought I was crazy!!) I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a great love story!

I loved this book. I am impressed by the writing and the story line. I would like to read more of Andie and Mack's story. The ending was great and I'm not sure that she would be able to extend the story but I just fell in love with everyone in the book. This is my first Elle Casey book but I plan to read more of her books.

## I enjoyed this book very much. There were many laugh out loud moments which is always a plus for me. The story was a little silly and a lot of fun. I do wish the heroine was a lot less clumsy and a bit more likeable. I wondered several times how the hero could fall in love with her. However, the rest was so good that I still rated it 5 stars.

LOVED this book. It was absolutely laugh-out-loud funny in the beginning. Gavin is totally sexy and it was fantastic. Would love to read Ian's story now!

What a great love story.  It is so funny at times I laughed until I cried. It was witty sweet, sexy, and a sizzling hot cowboy to boot.  One of the best books I read this year,.  I hope more people read this fantastic book.  You will NOT be disapointed in this book at all.  Flows great with wonderful characters.

This NetGalley reviewer is always a push-over for a “sweep her off her feet” romantic tale, especially when it comes with a heaping dose of witty banter. Shine Not Burn delivers just that. In fact, Mack (aka Gavin MacKenzie), our hero, does it twice. It’s just a shame the heroine, Andrea (Andie) Marks doesn’t remember the first time…or the wedding ceremony that came with it. This reformed party girl turned lawyer fell off the proverbial life planner wagon and all bets were off when she met Mack at a Vegas casino. Too much alcohol and other unforeseen circumstances leaves her with only vague Vegas memories and back in Florida in no time. Two years later, when applying for a marriage license, Andie discovers she and her cowboy tied the martial knot, so she’s off to Baker City, OR, to get it undone. In a family ranch setting with a great cast of likeable characters, this tale unfolds with Andie clinging to her life plan like a life line, and Mack equally determined to convince her to let go and give them a chance. With Hannah, the persistent want to be girlfriend, and Bradley, the soon to be ex-fiance, the emotions and fists eventually fly in a wild west worthy type showdown. I actually really liked that Bradley put up a fight for Andie, literally and figuratively. Even moreso, when the author hinted that there was more to Bradley than meets the eye. My only complaint is Andie’s clumsiness and attempts at humorous internal dialog seemed too numerous/over exaggerated at times. Since MacKenzie Fire (Book 2) is also being re-released, I know it will be about Mack’s brother, Ian, and Andie’s best friend, Candice. Already looking forward to this sequel.
