THE SHINING CITY

Imprisoned in Sorrowgate Tower, Rhiannon awaits trial for murder and treason. While her days are spent in anticipation of Lewen’s visits, her nights are haunted by the malevolent ghost of a dead queen, hungry to live again. But not many care to listen to the prophetic dreams of a girl who has already been convicted in most people’s minds.

Then Lewen begins to cool toward her, and Rhiannon suspects one of the princesses has worked a spell to steal his heart. I Also Recommend:

    very good

the book itself was a good read, but you must start at the begining. the flow of the story pulls you in & carries you away. the problems faced by the charators is good & you feel that some are almost insurmountable, but when they resolve themselves a feeling of fullness is acheived. i have enjoyed this seris very much & have kept them in my library.

    Excellent Read!!!

This second book of Rhiannon's ride was a good continuation to the first book adding some new characters to the story some good, others not so good. Also bring back some old enemies in full force. From the living and the dead or so they thought! I can't wait to read the 3rd book and final book of this trilogy that I believe is going to be released in Austraila on June 1st so I'm hoping for a release date in the US not to be too far behind that of Austraila. Fans of these books keep your finger crossed. 5 star book and a definite cliffhanger one that we're going to have to wait a little longer to find out what happens.

    fine fantasy

Half human-half satyricorn, Rhiannon killed one of Righ Lachlan¿s favorite Yeoman Guards Connor the Just in order to save her satyricorn mother. She is now in the Sorrowgate Tower prison awaiting trial for murder along with the Laird O Fettercain who Rhiannon helped capture. His crimes include murder and necromancy as he tried to raise his dead brother. The Laird¿s servant seatie Deidre is placed in the household of Joanna the Mild, Connor¿s sister and the head of the College of Healers. --- Rhiannon¿s lover Lewen, an apprentice-witch and squire to Lachlan, promises her he will be there for her but Olwynne NiaCuinn bewitches him will a love potion leaving Rhiannon desolate. At her trial, she is found guilty but Lachlan is going to pardon her but before he can do that well placed conspirators act to free the imprisoned laird, unseat Lachlan and spirit away his heir. Rhiannon is the only one who can help undo some of the damage the conspirators caused and she is willing to do it if it means freeing Lewen from Olwynne¿s spell. --- Book Two of Rhiannon¿s Ride is a fine fantasy that magically charms the audience. Fans of the Shannara series and the works of Raymond E Feist will love THE SHINING CITY, a work where species of myth and legend live side by side with humans. In fact there is so much inter-species mating that it is hard to tell who is a pureblood anymore. This is a character driven work but there is just enough action to please all fantasy lovers. --- Harriet Klausner
