Overview

When a thief turns up in Montgomery targeting the super rich women of a high-end dating website, it's up to Private Investigator Lexi Graves to lure him out before he goes to ground. To make matters worse, he's evaded capture numerous times and this might be the last chance to catch him before he retires from the high stakes game.

Newly single and thoroughly confused, the last thing Lexi wants to do is date a string of men whose photos are optimistic to say the least. But one of her short list is the thief and a rogue, and faux-dating a string of Not The Ones might not only help her figure out which one he is but also help her work out who and what she wants in her personal life. Will it be her sexy, mysterious, boss Solomon, or handsome cop, Maddox?

Posing as a glamorous, eligible bachelorette with closet, car and home to match may be fun and games, but Lexi may have met her match when she becomes the next in the thief's sights. After all, he'll stop at nothing to get what he wants. Along with her cash and borrowed jewels, this master thief might want to steal her heart in the ultimate sting.

But as the case comes together, tragedy strikes causing Lexi to question what is more important to her: racing to the aid of her best friend, or solving the case, no matter the cost.

Not quite sophomore slump, but definitely a (sadly) sophomoric piece. After cranking out 3 surprisingly tight books in quick succession, this 4th installment is a major letdown. I realize the author had been ill for a time but clearly she spent her recovery reading others in similar genre like Jenna Bennett, Kate Johnson, HP Mallory and Shelly Freeman and drew from them...only their efforts are far far superior to this wreck of book. Like some teen fantasy with a very weak 'mystery', lead character Lexi goes undercover dating to catch a thief, meeting a host of dashing would be badguys, endless details abide about her sporting a fabulous wardrobe (Manolos!) & lets not forget the requisite mysterious dashing man who will no doubt return in future books to muddle her already absurd romantic entanglements. The laughs found in the previous are few and more forced here, and there is a bit of tragedy unrelated to the main mystery to give it some substance, but not nearly enough to make this book into anything more than sheer chit lit with the barest dash of mystery. The book limps along till the end until alas, we are treated to a weak and obvious denouement plus the all important who will she choose! Some will no doubt be unhappy but at this point I could not care about any of them as Lex finally chooses ("I wish I knew what was going on in his head, but if pushed into a guess, I'd say lust. I couldn't blame him; I looked super hot") Egads! Yes really, that's the dramatic romantic ending, and bringing with it, regretfully, my investment in this series. Don't waste your time nor money with this one-very very disappointed.

I love this series!!! Im really impressed that the author didn't go the usual route when finally choosing between the two love interests. I always choose the bad boy so, it gets old when the heroine always chooses the "right" guy. (like evanovich does) I love these books every time, and cannot wait to read more about Lexi! I have no idea why someone would think this book was any less than the others. Its funny, exciting, and fast paced. I love the characters and how they have developed over the span of the series. I truly hope there is no end in sight for the series. AND I highly recommend reading these books. If you love Janet Evanovich but are always rooting for Ranger over Morelli, you will love Lexi and Soloman!!

    Highly Recommend

I loved this 4th book in the series as much as the 3 others and was not disappointed in the story line. Lexi is Lexi and you either like her and root for her or you want to change her. I for one like her and wouldn't change anything about her. So, she's torn between two men. That doesn't make her bad, that's real life sometimes. I like both of the men in her life so whoever she chose works for me although I do feel sad for the one left. But there's always the next book and I hope we don't have to wait too long. I love all the secondary characters in the book, too many to name, but her mother cracks me up. Lots of humor, mystery and romance. JudyE

I love the Lexi Graves series. For this review to be helpful yo

I love the Lexi Graves series. For this review to be helpful you will have to have knowledge of the 1st 3 books in the series and waiting to find out who is at the door. It takes a while to get there but you do find out. Some will be happy with the ending, some will not. Personally, I loved it! I agree with one of the reviews below that I too stopped reading the Stephanie Plum series because of flip flopping between men. I hope Ms Chafer leaves Lexi with her choice and continues to grow all the characters from there. The same family, friends and co-workers are still there; some updates are followed. I gave this review 4 stars only because I missed more of the action from the 1st 3 but then again when you're bait for a dating service thief I guess it will be tamer. Not a lot I can say the synopsis hasn't already provided. All in all, it was a good ready and I can't wait for the next one.

I was sort of torn between 3 and 4 stars on this one. What final

I was sort of torn between 3 and 4 stars on this one. What finally pushed it to 4 stars is that at least in this series, the girl seems to finally make a choice about her love interest. Sure, future "complications" may present itself but one of the reasons I quit reading the Stephanie Plum books was the nonstop back and forth between men. ENOUGH! That gets very tiring after a while. Whether Lexi makes the choice the reader wants or not, at least she made a choice. The story does progress a little too slow in the beginning. It made me skip pass some things. The Lexi of the past has always been somewhat self absorbed when it comes to looking good but she seems more so in this one. She redeems her somewhat shallow self when she's forced to make a decision that clearly says about her that "family/friends first". I'll keep up with this series but I'll quit the moment the author starts having Lexi go back and forth between men.

    Lexi is fun

Lexi is more shallow in this book but the plot is really fun to read. The characters stay true. Keep writing! Glad it is here!

    Doomed chapter 7

I got out of my bed and rushed downstairs. The school bus honked loudly. I shoved a piece of toast into my mouth as I ran. I threw the remainig piece into the trash can as I flew by. The bus doors opened and I got on board. I walked back to the back of the bus. "Teresa!" A voice called. It was Jackson again. I made room for him to sit next to me. He did. "I was wondering when I would see you again!" He said. I nodded weakly,"Yeah,"my voice cracked,"Me, too." What was he doing to me? I couldn't be... oh no. Allie would kill me if I was. "Look,"Jackson said,"I just want to thank you and.. I dunno.. maybe hget to know each other better?" I nodded. The bus pulled up at school and dozens of kids swarmed to get off. "Whoa! Hey! Knock it off!"the bus driver called,"I'm getting too old for this." I stepped off the bus, too, with Jackson at my side. Allie cam running up to me. "Hey Jackson!" Or maybe up to Jackson. "Look, do you wanna go over to Baskin' Robins for ice cream later? You know, as friends." Jackson nodded,"Sure, sounds like a plan. Could Teresa come?" Allie shook her head,"No, Teresa has always had Dance class after school on Tuesdays." I frowned,"No I hav-" Allie put her hand over my mouth. Jackson stared at Allie who was smiling nervously. "Are you POSITIVE she can't come?" Jackson asked. Allie took her hand off of my mouth,"Fine. Whatever. Teresa can come." Allie spun on her heel and walked away. "Seriously." I said. Jackson nodded. "She sounds like Taylor." I nodded too. Wait. Taylor? Oh no! Was my best friend about to become my enemy?!---------------- Hi everyone and thx for reading. The next chapter will be on maroon 5 res one. Hope you enjoyed this story so far! Post a comment and please be patient with the next chapter.
