I gave this book 3 stars because its a good book but thats all. First of all the author offers insufficent advice on coloring but really pushs the of Copic markers. She says that you can you use another marker brand but spends the majority of her time pushing the Copic marker line. I know its an excellent brand of marker for use in comic coloring but not everyone can afford them. It would have been better if she showed different examples of work that were created using various brands of markers, eg, tombow, prismacolor, etc. Second, the book offers very little information regarding the use of light and shadow. The author gives the most basic of lessons on page 31, the example is how a colored ball, is highlighted by light than reflects light. I feel as an artist new to coloring using markers the examples givenin the book did little to assist me in coloring my own original characters. The examples the author gives are very brief, they offer the no varitions on any single example. Last, there is almost no lessons on coloring accessories the author only shows you the different type of accessories a character can wear. The book also gives very few techniques on special effects that can be achieved with markers alone. The book would have been better if the author used a single drawing repeatedly and showed the many ways markers can be used to color that one drawing.
