What People are saying about this

Ellie Kay

From the Author:

When you're shopping to save--shop with an eye to share.

After having five babies in seven years and eight military moves in ten years--I learned to look at life in a funny way or end up on a funny farm. This is the approach I use to present my method of saving on everything from canned corn to classic cars.

Section one presents a streamlined method of grocery shopping that will save you 30% to 85% a month on your grocery bill--and have an abundance left over to share with the local food pantry. Section two is a reference manuel to save on just about everything you might want to buy. The final section gives tips on setting up a family budget, simplifying your life and even sharing with organizations who love your donations.

One last comment I'd like to add. This book is not a dull, dry commentary. Each chapter opens with an anectdote of life with a house full of children. You may even find yourself chuckling your way to savings.

'I've never read a book on saving money that I've enjoyed so much! Ellie Kay's humorous, down-to-earth style of writing matches the practical suggestions she gives for cutting household costs. Brimming with ideas, this book would make a great gift for anyone wanting to shave dollars off their grocery bill!

Ellie Kay has done it! She's taken one of her books (and a GREAT one at that!) and made it even better than it already was! But seriously, folks, if you're looking for an AWESOME book that will help you get out of debt AND be a blessing to other people at the SAME TIME, THIS IS THE BOOK! (and I should know--the first edition of 'Shop Save and Share' helped me eliminate $30,000 of DEBT!!!

In March of 2001 I 'just happened' to be listening to a radio station to which I normally do not tune and heard Ellie Kay being interviewed about how she saves money on groceries. My ears perked up, because up to that time, I had been struggling to stay within my food budget. I am a mother of six children (ages ranging from 2-20). After hearing Ellie on the radio, I purchased Shop, Save, and Share. This book has been very instrumental in helping me save money on my grocery bill. Since I have been using Ellie's suggested methods of saving, I have also had enough to occasionally share with two single moms, as well as sending a variety of items to a children's home. I am very thankful for being led to hear about Ellie Kay's book.

Before reading Ellie Kay's book 'Shop, Save and Share,' I thought I did great if I saved $10 a week in the grocery store and I have been shopping for groceries for over 30 years (wish I had this information available years ago). I received her book for Christmas, read it and saved $61.07 the first week and $52.31 the second week. I had so many groceries that I have to share because I don't have room for them all! I gave one bag away last night and have another packed bag at the door ready to go to a family out of work. WOW! Even my husband has thanked me for doing this and saving money on our grocery budget. Not only will you save a lot of money if you follow Ellie's proven stategies, but you will have a great time reading her book and laughing at her stories. Thanks Ellie!

This book changed my life and is one of the best books I've ever read! It forced me to look at all aspects of my life and realize how society and the media try to dictate materialism in our lives. We need to get back to basics! All of this is stated in a matter-of-fact, humerous way that makes for easy reading, I could not put it down! It's much, much more than a book about saving money on groceries. It takes a brief look at all areas of life where our money is spent... how much is enough? When I cleaned out my jewelry box--neigh, my jewelry armoire... my mother thought for sure I had went nuts. I let her have first pick, the rest went to Goodwill (share!). Regarding the 'share' concept-- I read this book last year, and around Christmas I felt moved--I believe the Lord was speaking to me-- that I needed to give away my car (a 1990 Pontiac Grand Am, 105000 miles, perfect working condition). Before December I had been determined to drive my car until it died. Giving it away just sounded crazy, especially to my husband and my mother. But I prayed and continued to feel strongly in this direction. Then a name appeared in my head, the name of a foreign exchange student who's in the US at a Christian college, studying to be a Director of Christian Education. I emailed her, and it had been in her heart, also, that she needed a car to get around the spread-out campus, but she didn't have any money to get one! In working through the church I was able to not only accomplish this but got a nice tax deduction, so the 'sharing' came back to me. Then in May of this year, I received a wonderful unexpected financial windfall where I was able to pay off most of my bills. Ellie's point is to share with others. Always share, there's always time & enough to share. Just privately knowing that you are helping someone is reward enough, I didn't expect the blessings that subsequently followed. I just ordered Ellie Kay's latest book & can't wait to read it!

With four children 10 and under, I am always trying to find ways to save money. I have just recently bought both of Ellie Kay's books and enjoy both of them tremendously! I can't wait to share what I've learned with my family and friends. I am going to recommend to everyone I know to go out and get these books. These suggestions will help out so much, especially with only one income( my husband is a SGT in the US Army) and seven people in our house. Ellie, thank you so much for sharing with others what you know about saving money!

This book is one of the most helpful books I have read for anyone who does the grocery shopping for their family. The information that Ellie Kay gives is so simple, yet you can truly trim your grocery bill. That's not the best part though. You can actually save money on your food bill while acquiring enough food to bless others that are in need! Ellie's stories are so funny too! Once you start reading this book, you can't put it down! Once you are finished, you can wait to share it with others!

We are a family who has always had hard times financially. My husband barely makes enough to keep us fed and some weeks we panicked because we didn't have enough money for food. Then I heard this seminar and read the book called 'Shop, Save and Share.' Within the first two months, I cut my food bill in half and have a ton of extra food! Now I can afford health insurance for the first time in many years. I have a medical condition that we couldn't afford to get medication and tests to treat. We didn't feel that morally we could go on government assistance. But now, we have health insurance and can pay our own way thanks to Ellie Kay. She is really a God send. Last week, we had no money for food (again) but we didn't panic. because of this book, I had extra groceries in my stock. God used this book to improve our lives, get me the medical help I need and maybe even save my life. Thank you, Ellie Kaye.

I heard Ellie speak in person and she was so incredible that I thought, 'How could she possibly write the way she talks?' Her energy level is so high, her humor is belly-laugh funny and her serious stories made me cry. Well---the truth is that Ellie Kay DOES write the way she speaks. Her book told me how to save so much (we've cut our grocery bills by 40%) and I laughed and cried my way through this book. Thanks for the book, Ellie Kay.

Shop, Save & Share was so fun to read (even my never-reads-a book husband enjoyed the stories I shared with him). It has helped our family tremendously. This book makes couponing easy and fun, as well as giving great tips on saving and sharing just about anything!

I just loved Ellie's book. This book will pay for itself in the savings you'll receive by using her tips. Her honesty in sharing some of her family 'moments' with us makes you feel like you were right there during that situation. These are great tips to help us shop, save and share. As I read the book, I felt like she was right there telling me the tips. I can't wait for her next book!

Ellie's book belongs in every American household. Her concept of not only saving on your bills, but also finding room in your budget to share with others less fortunate is something we should all practice and also teach our children. By using the concepts in the book, I saved over $100.00 in the first two weeks. Our family of 8 is now on a grocery budget of 250.00 a month and I am getting a large box of groceries ready so that we have something to share. I used Ellie's tips and not one member of my family complained, actually it seems as though we have even more groceries than ever before. Ellie's family stories at the beginning of each chapter add such a personal touch to the book that you will feel as if she has been a friend of yours forever. This book has truly changed my life in the best way possible. It has really taught me the meaning of sharing what we often take for granted. Coming from the mother of six, I recommend this as a 'Must Read' for the frugal-hearted.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Ellie Kay's book! Having had the pleasure of meeting her a few years ago, I can definitely say that she writes the way she lives. Her book is full of gentle humor and wit, yet gives such practical advice.....I wonder why I didn't think of it myself. I think every reader will learn something from this book...and it makes a great gift.
