Spiritual direction is the process that helps a person to be aware of God s presence in his or her life and to determine how best to follow God s direction. Rabbi Addison (The Enneagram and Kabbalah) was the last student assistant to the famous theologian and social activist Abraham Joshua Herschel. With life stories and discussions, the author describes how he has benefited from the spiritual guidance of people belonging to faiths other than his own: by being open to other religious traditions while remaining faithful to his Judaism. Addison is certainly not the first to engage in such an interfaith quest for spiritual direction, yet he does stand out by not just discussing the process but also tackling the issues involved. He is aware that not everyone will agree that such interfaith guidance can or should be sought. A glossary and a helpful list of resources are appended.
