All Music Guide - Tom Demalon
The musical touchstone for the British trio Muse is obviously Radiohead and that fact is crystal clear from the smoldering opening cut, "Sunburn." Their John Leckie-produced debut, Showbiz, is strong on angst-filled vocals, esoteric lyrics, and dramatic shifts in sonic dynamics. Hailing from rural England, singer/guitarist Matthew Bellamy, bassist Chris Wolstenholme, and drummer Dominic Howard average 20 years of age, so there's plenty of potential for them to grow into a sound that is more of their own. Showbiz hints at the potential in this young band, and it should be of interest to many Radiohead fans.

    Great Alternative

Great minor key music. Depeche baby and still mourning my alternative roots.

    a-ma-zing

Muse is amazing. I don't think they have a song that I don't like, and if you like this cd, you should buy origins of symmetry and absolution too. They are definately one of the best bands out today, and they are even better live.

    BEST new band

I have been sitting around whining about how nothing good has come out in sooo long and how everything is 'alternateen' garbage now with the exception of a few bands. But I am so lucky I found this. MUSE is the greatest thing that has come out in a very long while and if you are looking for something new, I highly recommend it. This is the best album I bought last year (except for Kid A, although I never thought these guys sounded like Radiohead until my friends said it). A must have for anyone who remembers when alternative music was really alternative.

    absolutely amazing

i know that everyone compares them to radiohead or the smashing pumpkins but every band has it's influences, and i think that Muse has great influences! They also definitley have a style of their own and an amazing style at that. intense, darkly rich songs full of passion and rage...very sexy...musically this album has so much to offer and matthew bellamy's voice fits the haunting sound of the music perfectly! some of my favorite tracks include, ''cave'', ''sunburn'', ''unintended'', ''overdue'', ''muscle museum''...it's all great, once you hear the album you'll immediately want to play it again and again!

    Good Debut Album

Unfortunately, the best way I can describe this group is to compare them to Radiohead (which is what too many reviewers have done to this group). This is a very promising debut album, and I can't wait to hear more from this group and to see how they grow. ''Muscle Museum'' has become my #2 all time favorite song (right behind REM's ''E-Bow, The Letter).
