I've been an emotional eater for 3 decades and used countless self help books and diets to no avail. Roger Gould cracked the code. You will conquer your battle with food. He is a genius and you won't regret a single penny spent on the book or a second reading it.

I have a lot of experience in both nutrition and in weight loss approaches - and Shrink Yourself is something different and something effective. There is an online program that you may also want to try.
The idea in this book is that it is feelings of powerlessness that trigger emotional eating episodes, which in turn keep us overweight.
With excellent technique, this SY method leads a participant into the middle of emotional eating episodes - and then it gets interesting. By studying that 'innocent' moment where the hand reaches for food in some detail - a doorway into an inner exploration is opened.
The technique is not for the casual explorer! It takes commitment and courage to do this study, and to go against and interrupt years of habit 'in the moment'
But - if you are finished with yo-yo approaches to diets and years of failed efforts - this method has a lot to offer.

This book is amazing. I was an emotional eater for 10 years plus and this book stopped it dead in its tracks. It focuses on WHY we emotional eat. It gets right into your head, takes the disorder by the neck and disassembles it before your eyes. I LOVE this book and am the happiest I have ever been. I read this book a month ago and have lost 7 pounds so far and counting. Thank God for this book!

As someone who has gone to counseling for years for disordered eating, I found this book extremely informative and right on the money. It is a great resource to keep yourself headed I the right direction, as well as a great manual to getting your thoughts and emotions back on track.
