SIBLINGS, A Play in One Act by J. R. Simons. Drama. Cast: 2m, 1f. Jack Somers, his brother, Carl, and their sister, Kelly, come together for the bittersweet task of cleaning out their father’s apartment following his death. Their get together reveals things about themselves and their relationship to their father that they were never able to express to him while he was alive. This is a journey from dysfunctional family to true family brotherhood and sisterhood. Written as a project for a Graduate level playwriting class, Siblings is the recipient of an Honorable Mention in the 1995 Writer’s Digest Magazine Writing Competition.

About the Author

J. R. Simons is an Adjunct Instructor of English Composition and Theatre at Lorain County Community College and of English Composition and Drama at Lakeland Community College, a Theatre Technician at Cuyahoga Community College, a Substitute Teacher for Elyria City Schools and the owner/producer of The Jovialities Entertainment Co., Ltd. which performs live, interactive, improvisational murder mysteries at the Oberlin College Inn and elsewhere around Northern Ohio. He has also been the Set and Lighting Designer and Technical Director for Avon High School’s Drama Club since 1999. He holds a BFA and an MA in Theatre from Kent State University and an MFA in Creative Writing from Ashland University. J. R. would like to thank his lovely wife, Kim, and their three children, Kelsey, Will and Hayley, for their incredible patience with him. Know that you are all loved and cherished.
