Calogero Messina is a prolific writer who teaches at the University of Palermo. He is the author of a number of historical, critical and literary works that include Voltaire e il mondo classico, A Sicilian Martyr in Nagasaki, (published by Legas) and Sicilia e Spagna nel Settecento.
