Gr 5-9-Solid introductions to the lives and works of Newbery-winning authors. The books present brief biographies of the individuals while focusing on their writing processes and inspirations. Critical discussions of the authors' works are also provided. Each title concludes with an interview, biographical time line, list of selected books, reviews and awards, and resources for further research. Unfortunately, only one black-and-white photograph appears in each volume. A large font size and readable text make these offerings useful for reluctant readers. Libraries looking to expand their biography section will be well served by these informative titles.-Shauna Yusko, St. Monica School, Mercer Island, WA Copyright 2004 Reed Business Information.
