As Melicia Phillips pointed out in Sides (LJ 3/15/95), it's usually much easier to decide on the main dish for dinner than to come up with an interesting accompaniment or two. Davis (Fresh Look at Saucing Foods, LJ 12/92) provides 100 or so recipes for pasta and potatoes, grains and beans, and condiments, as well as vegetables and fruits. The author, who describes herself as a natural-born innovator, is talented and creative, and her easy recipes should be a boon to busy cooksand their familieswho are tired of the same old green beans.
