    For the Terminally Disorganized

I bought Sidetracked Home Executives in 1981 and it was one of the best books I've ever bought. It eliminated the chaos in my home and my husband was never again frustrated when he came home. Pam and Peggy did such a wonderful job of telling funny and cute stories, you just wanted to be their best friend. It's been 22 years and I pulled it out today, for a refresher course! Great reading.

    Finally something useful!

I've read nearly all of the "self-help" books on organizing and cleaning, and this one is the only one that I could relate to (and this includes FlyLady's "Sink Reflections", which she based from this book).

    Timeless

I discovered S.H.E. methods in 1980, when I was a young married woman with a baby. This book truly changed my life. I recently purchased the new edition to read the updates. I think this should be required reading for every new bride (and groom)!

    great for organizing the help!

I bought this years ago for myself. I now have a weekly cleaning man (Lucky me!) He's a great cleaner yet needs direction from me. I pulled out the book, set up the cards and we're off! It's clear, easy and I can draw pictures on the cards when language is a barrier.

My mother used this system when I was young. At the time I hated it, but now that I have a family of my own, I realize how wonderful it is! I would recomend this to anyone.

    Soooooo practical!!!

I was given this book by a very dear friend just after I had given birth to my 6th child. At the time it was either sinking or surviving with a young family and a busy household. With the information and practical tips in this book I was able not only to survive, but actually enjoy being a organized 'home executive'.

    This book is excellent!!

I read the FlyLady books first and was surprised to find they were based on this book and other books by Pam and Peggy. I like to read orginal sources and was glad I did !! Pam and Peggy perspective is very indepth and was written for happy people who want to become organized and have more time for fun and to become happier!! Fly Lady starts from being clinincally depressed and that perspecitve shows in the way she interpreted Pam and Peggy's orginal program and ideas.

They go to the heart of the issues and offer a way out that doesn't keep you having to "be on the Flying Program" forever and receiving tons and tons of emails as if you were attending AA meetings. FlyLady's "feel" is liken to being on the wagon and if you don't follow it you've fallen off the program and they'll
be there when you come back.

Pam and Peggy's books see you as an adult who can utilize the "act as if principal" until it becomes apart of you. When the habits and routines become automatic you move on to other things in your life.

    This was OK

I'm reviewing this as an audiobook which is what I purchased. With the information presented in this book by the authors, I HIGHLY recommend the printed version over the audiobook. There are too many 'lessons' presented for the listener to fully grasp the information. I am referring to the cards that need to be categorized, etc. It lost me a few times, and actually lost my interest because of this. Some of the information, however, that wasw simply exposition of these sisters' experiences was much more listener-friendly and useful information. I, personally, prefer the Flylady information as opposed to all these cards that need to be categorized. For someone who needs help getting organized, staying positive and learning to deal with being overburdened with everyday responsibilities within and outside of the home, Flylady's material is easier to grasp and more simply to apply to your life... AND does not consist of all these cards. (Just being honest).

    Awesome!

This book has really helped me as a homemaker. The system the authors outline is completely customizable, so you can tweak it to suit your needs. The 3x5 cards give my days a rhythm and keep me on track.

    Great help

Very practical and down to earth help for organizing a cleaning schedule. Some of it was a bit dated, but it was pretty funny. I could easily picture myself in the authors stories. My new years resolution is to start using the 3 x 5 system.

    Warning: Perfectionists may be disappointed!

I read this book and was excited to start my 3x5 card collection. However, it requires you to visit the store and if you have a problem with being sidetracked and doing things perfectly... Needless to say, $65 dollars later I bought the perfect box, white cards, colored cards, dividers and a few other things because I was 'organizing' and it had to be done right or not at all. After looking at the daunting task of writing on each and every card at least 6 words or more and realizing I had 175 cards to do... I thought who has the time to write all that, much less do it right??? So, I used the PC to help do it right. But, the cute cards I picked out (with flowers) had lines and were white on the back instead of the colors they suggested. So, I had to return those to the store and was sidetracked before buying the right ones. Gas and time are at a premium with two kids (1 & 3). I liked the overall idea, but implementation is going to take a while!
