Children's Literature - Greg M. Romaneck
When Sidney Crosby entered the National Hockey League (NHL) in 2006 he was only eighteen years old. In his rookie year, he scored thirty-nine goals and added sixty-three assists while putting the NHL on notice that a new superstar had arrived. Two years later Crosby led his team, the Pittsburg Penguins, to a Stanley Cup victory in a dramatic seven game final series against Detroit. In 2010 Crosby scored a game winning sudden death overtime goal in the Winter Olympics gold medal hockey game versus the United States. Plagued by concussions, Crosby has had to work very hard to stay on the ice but when he plays, the Penguin’s captain continues to be one of the finest hockey players in the world. It is this star player in the NHL that Matt Doeden describes to his readers in this illustrated biography. Readers of this well written book will come away with a clearer understanding of both Crosby’s achievements on the ice and the efforts he has made in pursuit of excellence. Reviewer: Greg M. Romaneck; Ages 8 to 10.
