A short story of 184 pages. The beauty of nature and its simple storyline of the inhabinants is a love story. I could not put the book down until I finished it.

Page 133, chap 7 "..the little girl he now knew to be 11 yrs old" If she was 11 when they first met then ten yrs hd passed would make her 21. Page 138, chap 8 "sidney had come a long way in ten years." Between chaps 7 and 8 seems like part of story is missing. Overall great read.....would like to see a sequel/series to this. Alot of stories to be told. Really pulls at your heart strings.

Great story and even better if you are an animal and nature lover

This short story would make a wonderful series. Sydney though deserves a much better mate in life than the "city slicker" rancher at the end of the story. She also would make a great "naturalistic" veterinarian. Beautiful writing!

Interesting enough to keep reading even though it is a bit improbable, still a nice read. It shows the compasson animals have for their families and other animals and for humans who earn their trust. It is subliminally saying to love nature's animals and respect nature.

Very improbable. Grammer and punctuation were just so-so. 110 pages, free. This short story was more a YA book than an adult book. I can not believe parents would take the action they did, nor a 4 year old storing food for winter and surviving with no clothing in the high mountains for 5 years on her own. This was in the prolog of the book, so it is not a plot spoiler. There is no cursing, sex, religion, mystery or romance in this nice, clean, short story. There are not any surprizes either. The book has chapters 7 and 8, yet it seems as if there is a lot of missing information, needed for the book to make better sense, from this part of the book. There is a big lose of time and explainations unavailable. If animals getting hurt or killed bothers you, then perhaps you should skip this one. I would recommend this book to readers 10-14 years old. AD

But...seems like a chapter or more is missing between chapters 7 and 8.
