Ex Confederate calvary trooper Hanson rides out of Camp Lune on patrol with the rest of the squad under the command of Cpl. Berrenton. One day the squad stops at a gully for their nooning. Before having much time to rest up, they hear sounds in the distance. Only Hanson recongizes the sound for what it is, distant gunfire from a skirmish. When the troop arrives at the scene they find a group of settlers who turn out to be Swedish immigrants being attacked by indians. The troop charges to assist the Swede. Once inside the rock walled enclosure, both troopes and immigrants are surrounded by hostiles, thus beginning the siege. Cpl. Berrenton sends one man back to Camp Lune to bring back reenforcements but he is captured and tortured as the besieged listen to his screams in the night. The indians continue their attacks as more hostiles join the orgional group. By now the inexperienced remaining troopers and Swedes are becomming experienced indian fighters but will they live through the assults to use their knowledge in the future? SEIGE is a well crafted story about a galvanized Yankee and the troopers he rides with that will keep you turning pages as the action gets hotter than the land it's being fought in. SIEGE is another OUTATANDING book from a master story teller-Frank Roderus.
