Overview

Young SILKI BEGAY of the Navajo Nation is having the most bizarre summer of her life. For one thing, her forever friend, BIRDIE, has forsaken their summer adventures for her new obsession—volleyball. That’s bad enough, but Silki is practically scared into a petroglyph one morning on Concho Mountain by a shrieking creature leaping over her and SMILES - her faithful horse. Silki is certain she has witnessed WOL-LA-CHEE, the Ancient Ant Man, coming to seek revenge on her and Birdie for collecting tiny relics from their favorite bustling anthill. But wait…Silki invented that guy last summer to rescue them from oh-my-gosh boredom right before school started. How could he come to life? Already Birdie has accused Silki of confusing her real and unreal—will she believe her now? As unexplainable events erupt on the Rez, Silki finds herself plunging into a mystery in which nothing is as it seems to be. With Silki’s professor mom pressuring her to take on more responsibility, and Grandmother’s culture calipers pinching tight to ground Silki in her respect for her Navajo heritage, Silki swirls wild-eyed into a summer of firsts. The stakes are high—can two broken hearts stretch across 56 years to heal Silki’s and Birdie’s friendship, and will Silki find the strength to navigate the road between childhood and what lies ahead amid the throes of authentic danger? Her answers await in Silki, the Girl of Many Scarves:SUMMER OF THE ANCIENT.

    Snowcreek

Snowcreek licked Lionclaws cheek, "Our kits will have a better place to grow up now. In BlazeClan, they are always fighting" she murmured softly. Stormstripe sat with Willowstream, "Sounds good" he agreed. Junglefang sat with Berrryblossom, looking pleased.
