Former private investigator Csar Hawke has one rule: He doesnt deal with dead bodies. Thats why he enlisted with the Magical Violations Department in the Office of Preternatural Affairs. Hes happy tracking down witches that commit petty crimes, but he leaves the homicides to other agents.

Except that hes been assigned to a new teama team that handles special investigationsand the job has suddenly changed. Now Csar has to deal with dead bodies. He also has to deal with necromancers, murderous cults, and demons that can stop a mans heart with fear.

The second volume in Reine's OPA series is terrific. Fun characters, lots of action, some truly nasty villains, and hints of a larger conspiracy. I love the interaction between Cesar and Suzy, and I hope we see more of Malcolm and Bellamy. Highly recommended to fans of Seanan McGuire, Ilona Andrews, Ciana Doidge, and Annie Bellet. -- lyradora

I really enjoyed reading Silver Bullet! This story grabbed my interest from the first page, and kept me intrigued to the very end. Ms. Reine really always weaves a fantastic story. She has a way of writing that draws readers into her stories and keeps them wanting more.  In the beginning of this book she explains how the Preternatural Affairs series actually takes place before we meet Elise and Riley from her other series. I think anyone new to S. M. Reine’s books who might be wondering what series they should read first can start with this series and not feel completely lost. I do recommend that you read Witch Hunt first so that you get to know the characters and why they were chosen for this specific department. I received a copy of this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review.
