I thought that the Silver Chalice was a very good well written book. It's a little long but keeps you interested by the adventure and suspense. I strongly recommend this book.

What a great way to walk during the time of the early Christian church. The book takes place during the time of Joseph of Aramathea. The main character is fictional.

Thomas B. Costain was a very gifted historical fiction writer (and he didn't start writing until he was 57 years old!). I've read a number of his books and each one has been fantastic. The Silver Chalice will take you away to the time just after the beginning of A.D., right after Jesus' crucifixion. Costain takes you on a ride through the middle east with his main character Basil searching for the remaining disciples of Jesus and growing into a man through the entire adventure. By the time you make it to the end, it will be a bittersweet feeling to turn the last page. Enjoy!
