I immediately loved the characters: Rain, Jason, Allie, and A.J. They all felt so real and reminded me of my friends after high school. I am a big fan of anything supernatural and I wholeheartedly believe in ghosts, so I loved the supernatural and ghostly happenings that occurred throughout the story. The pacing was a bit slow for my taste, but it picked up halfway through and then I had to force myself to stop reading (4 chapters to the end) to get some sleep. lol
If I was Rain, I don’t think I would have been as forgiving toward everyone. I did like how motherly she was to her friends though and how she always wanted to cook for them. Where is she to cook my dinner? ;)
The romance in this story takes a backseat to the friendships, but I liked the romantic tension between Rain and Jason as well as the growing mystery surrounding Brandy’s disappearance. I did find it a bit silly that the characters couldn’t put together what Brandy, the ghost, was trying to tell them; it seemed too obvious to me. The ending was a shock though. I had a few theories, and none of them were right, which is a very good thing. If you like sweet romances with a ghost story mixed in, this is the book for you!
*I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.*

Book exchanged for an honest review:Rain Anderson recent divorce has left her reeling and discouraged to say the least. Rain is asked by parent of her best friend Brandy to find some closure and what really happened to her. Rain agrees and helps organize reunion between the high school friends which include Jason Lansing. Jason Lansing is on the verge of ending his relationship with Cara but can't seem to find a way to tell her or even discuss their relationship. Jason is looking forward to reunion but also dreading it too. Jason has too many memories of the past to remind not to get to close with Rain again. All the friends have been experiencing dreams and nightmares about Brandy. Each of them are having strange experiences as well. Rain is sure that Brandy is trying to tell them something but what that is the question. Will the group find the answers they seek? Your answers to this mystery await you in Silver Lake.
I really enjoyed this book. I thought the story was well thought out and unique. I admired AJ and Rain for the courage to try again even if it hurts to do so. The title of this book is aptly named because you'll be surprised by the answers that await you.

If you liked Christopher Pike as a teenager, you will love Silver Lake as an adult. Silver Lake is part mystery/paranormal/romance. I was immediately captivated and couldn't put it down! The characters were well-developed, and I was invested in each one about half-way through. I cheered on the romance to happen, sympathized with the emotions and found myself constantly trying to solve the mystery myself. Unlike a lof of other mysteries I've read, I wasn't disappointed at all in the ending.
I look forward to the next book by this author! This is a very fun genre.

Five years ago, Brandy goes missing. Her tight knit group of friends is devastated. Now Brandy’s mom is on her deathbed and needs to know what really happen to her daughter, who has been haunting her dreams. Brandy’s mom contacts Brandy’s friends to come back together at Silver Lake and find the truth of what has happen to Brandy.
Rain, Jason, Allie, and AJ all come together at the lake house. Rain is recently divorced from her cheating high school boyfriend. Jason is in a dead end relationship, waiting for the right time to end it. Allis is happily married with twin autistic boys but is keeping a secret. AJ comes from a very influential family where only the best is accepted and is also keeping a secret.
As they spend more time together things happen. Doors slam, things fall off shelved, and a ghost of Brandy is seen. The group knows the answer is out there and that Brandy is trying to lead them to her. They just have to follow the clues to get to the answer.
This is Kathryn Knight’s first published novel and all I can say is WOW! Every character in the book is perfectly developed. The background given is just enough without giving too much information. By the end of the story I felt like I had been at the lake house with them all. Hanging out and experiencing what they had.
The ghost of Brandy gave me chills many times. The clues she left her friends kept me at the edge of my seat having to know what had happen to her. I loved that she was more prevalent when all four friends were together. Some of the clues threw me off as to what happen and some confirmed what I was thinking.
The ending could have gone so many ways, but I am so happy with how it was written. I feel like everything was settled and the characters all had their lives put right.
I could not put this book down. I highly recommend this story to everyone. Romance, drama, renewal of friendships, and ghosts. Sounds like something for everyone. I cannot wait to see what Kathryn Knight writes next.

I can not believe this is a debut book. I found it completely entrancing.
The paranormal elements of this book were captivating, however, not the most important part of the story for me.
Four high school friends have come together after five years to figure out what caused the disappearance of the fifth person in their old circle. The dynamics of their friendships, all they've experienced since parting, the secrets they've hidden, the people they've become, all blend together to shape an unforgettable story.
I'm looking forward to reading more books by Kathryn Knight.
