Library Journal

The first two books in Interweave's new "Jewelry Studio" series, these emphasize the mastery of basic techniques through detailed practice projects of increasing complexity. Chandler and Ritchey (Woven Wire Jewelry) explain the intricacies of wire wrapping, i.e., using heavy gold or silver wire bent or twisted to form bracelets and rings. Silver wire fusing involves sealing the ends of a silver ring with a butane torch to form a seamless piece without soldering. Fused rings may be used plain or hammered to form earrings and chains in Jones's projects. Both books are good introductory selections on specialized techniques for public library craft collections.

    Silver Fusing

I am just a beginner in metal working. I took a class in sil ver fusing and discovered that the instructor used this book as her tutorial. The book actually made the process much easier to understand and the illustrations were very helpful. I would recommend this book to anyone just beginning the process.

Great Intro to silver wire fusing

This book is written with beginners in mind. The illustrations are excellent and the descriptions of the technique are accurate and easy to understand and follow. I bought and read the book to prepare for a fusing class and when I got there, I was pleased to discover that I already knew everything I needed to know and this allowed me to get more out of the "practical" part of the class. I would have liked for this book to contain a few more projects, particularly projects that would be intermediate and advanced levels. This author also has video classes on beaducation.com but I recommend having the book as a reference until you are confident in your technique. I plan to keep it in my permanent library. The author gives excellent safety tips and describes with appropriate detail the tools needed. I was especially glad to learn that you should not use your "good" pliers to pick up fused rings (it will eventually ruin them).

    Better than a class

I looked thru this book and had to buy it. When I was able to read it from cover to cover it took the fear away. I had everything to fuse fine silver wire but was afraid to waste what I have. This book allowed me to jump right in and do it. I highly recommend this book

    A reviewer

I have never picked up a torch before, so I purchased this book on a whim. The designs are so fun, and there were LOTS of helpful tips along the way! I had a great time learning a new way to spice up my crafting, and at the same time I made some great new jewelry that even my teenage daughter likes!
