This novel had me intrigued from the beginning to end. Originally, I had brought it with me to read on the luscious beaches of Cozumel, however, my daily activities wouldn’t permit me the attention the book deserved. Once I returned home and found a day where I could literally get lost in this story, I did and finished it from beginning to end.

Cox created strong and fearless characters who possessed intelligence, beauty and heart. I couldn’t help but to fall in love with both Wade and Alexandra as they began to develop a dangerous, yet, heartwarming relationship. I only say dangerous here because Alexandra was hiding from her past, managed to disguise herself as a boy and then later gets kidnapped by the cruel Comancheros. And then there is Wade, a handsome, rugged fellow who is used to his ways and coming and going with whatever woman he wanted. Once he finds out Alexandra is really a gorgeous young lady and not the boy she was pretending to be, she becomes too tempting for him to resist. I adored watching their stubborn and questionable relationship blossom into something so beautiful that it captivated my heart.

I loved the descriptive language and setting of the story. Cox was able to paint a picture of the West so vivid that I couldn’t help but to get sucked into the Western world she created. The rawness and setting made me feel, see and smell everything. And I could picture each one of the characters the author created. Here is an example of her intimate and stunning descriptive language. “Lavarah studied the high cheekbones, the winged eyebrows and the amber eyes that glittered like a cat’s before they closed.” Beautiful!

I look forward to reading more books from this author. Silverhills is the perfect novel to snuggle up in bed to or read on the beach if you don’t have too many beach activities! Two thumbs up!

The author did an excellent job. I loved the story’s western theme, the adventure was good and the romance wasn’t over done. I was also impressed that she didn’t stent on the length it took her to relate her story. The epilog was well written, true to life but it was so touching, it left me feeling sad or she would have received 4 stars.
