Overview

Simon Bloom and his friends, Owen and Alysha, aren’t ordinary seventh-graders. Ever since Simon became Keeper of the Teacher’s Edition of Physics and led his friends in defeating deadly Sirabetta, they’ve been having fun playing with the laws of physics and hanging out with their all-seeing Narrator. That is, until Sirabetta escapes and sets out for revenge.

Now Simon and his friends must follow her to the Order of Biology’s realm, a vast undersea dome filled with harsh terrain and fierce beasts. Simon and company will get help from old friends and new, plus some wild abilities from the Book of Biology, but that might not be enough against Sirabetta and her ruthless army. Science and magic will blend and bend–with the universe at stake–as Simon struggles to master the Octopus Effect in this laugh-filled, action-packed, and dynamically narrated sequel to Simon Bloom, the Gravity Keeper.

Meet the Author

Michael Reisman was born and raised in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, where he spent a lot of time daydreaming in nearby woods. He can juggle and can use chopsticks with either hand, but he cannot control the universe (not for lack of trying). He’s got a black belt in napping; he loves pizza, chocolate, and NY egg rolls; and he enjoys writing about himself in the third person. His many jobs have included making smoothies, washing tents, and working in the movie/TV industry, but he’s happiest sitting in cafés and thinking up strange stories. Simon Bloom and his friends have a cool job. They are part of the Physics Guild, for which Simon is the co-keeper of the Teacher's Edition of the Book of Physics. They have the ability to use formulas to control the different laws of physics and get to use them to save the world or just have a fun day in the park. Things take a turn for the worst, however, when the Order of Sciences decide that there can only be one Keeper of the Physics Guild. To make matters worse, Sirabetta, the tattooed, formula-wielding villain from the first book, SIMON BLOOM: THE GRAVITY KEEPER, has escaped to Biology World and is bent on taking over the world again! Will Simon be able to save the world from Sirabetta? Will he remain the keeper of the Physics Guild? This book is fast-paced, entertaining, and fun to read. The characters are well-developed, the plot is unique, and the humor throughout the book is well worth the read. Lovers of science fiction, fantasy, and adventure will enjoy reading this series.

I enjoyed the increased role of the Narrator. Once again, in the style of Simon Bloom, the Gravity Keeper, there is lots to discuss in a classroom for Reading and Science. I recommend this book if you like a little more of the hows and whys answered, rather than just pure wizardry.

I wish the third one would just come out already, its a fantastic series! I love that its not a wizardly, just plain, unexplicable magic, this a great kind of book. And yes, i do appreciate magical fantasies. But this book is really cool and i would deffinitely reccomend it to anyone! And yes, the third one is in progress. FOR SURE! HONEST-TO-GOODNESS THERE IS A THIRD BOOK IN THE WORKS!!!!!!!! SOOO EXCITED!!!

Don't bother picking up the book. I started it and could barely finish. It was a waste of money. If you dislike books that include people with powers, don't get it. IT SUCKS!!!!!! WORST BOOK EVER. Don' t waste your money! Better for people who are in love with Harry Potter. If you like books that are realistic this book is NOT your type. Totally boring. My friend read the summary and put it back right away. I have read a few books from the same author and all the books he writes are the worst. I almost put it back when I first started. I hate how their were narrators who lived in the book. I don't see how anyone could like this book. If it was my decision if this book got published or not it wouldn't have gotten close to being published. If your 12 or older you will most likely hate this book. I don't know a single person who had a thought of picking up this book after reading the summary. The author is lucky I gave him a chance and actually read it. Trust me, if you like realistic books, don't even check it out at the library. IT IS THE WORST DO NOT EVEN TOUCH IT! I WAS DISGUSTED!
