I saw this book mentioned on the Oprah Winfrey show, and thought that the concept was good, but I didn't pursue it. I respect Oprah and her views, but I wasn't moved enough to search out this book. Either I mentioned it to my sister-in-law, or perhaps God guided her to it, but she gave it to me for Christmas 1996. As corny as it may sound, it was at a perfect time in my life. I wholeheartedly embraced the concept of GRATITUDE in my daily outlook on things, and OH MY! it changed my world. Nothing bothered me, nothing made me angry or sad because I was so OVERWHELMED at how much I had to be grateful for. I do attribute my life to God, but you don't have to in order to use this book. A simple belief in a higher power, be it fate or karma or whatever, is all you need. It is SO FREEING to not worry about bad little things and to revel in the glorious little things that add up so quickly into an enormous mountain of good fortune. As I wrote down the myriad things I had to be thankful for (everything from my cat's purr to my new raise to not missing my favorite tv show to the supermarket having my flavor of yogurt in stock) I was truly knocked over at how GOOD I have it. You only have to read the newspaper to realize how good you have it over others. But it was the act of listing five daily things that made me quantify what I had that was good. I wrote a huge 'BE GRATEFUL' on the back of my front door so that I could leave my house in the morning with that concept firmly in my mind. On the short drive to work I would revel in the sunlight, or the rain that would make the flowers bloom, or the good song on the radio, or that fact that my car was running well, or anything! I became a nicer person. Nothing fazed me. I was calm and serene and happy -- it was infectious. Even my family commented on how I had changed. I NEVER pass up an opportunity to tell someone about how this changed me. I have continued the concept by adopting a new MOTTO every year, and it gives my year focus and shapes my outlook. Give this book a really good chance, and it'll change your life, too!

This is my second copy. The first one was given to me as a Christmas gift last year. I enjoyed reading and writing in it so much-I purchased my own this year.

This journal was given to me a couple of years before I discovered 'Simple Abundance -- A Daybook Of Comfort And Joy'. It didn't have as much meaning before I read 'Simple Abundance'. I would recommend purchasing the book first or together with the journal.

I received this book as a gift. Putting what I'm grateful for on paper helps me prioritize what is important to ME in my life. I think this book can be a wonderful tool for people of all ages!

Sometimes you are Just stuck in a rut and need a little kick it the butt...this is it. This book forces you to look at things differently and see all the good that is happening around you, instead of the negative that we sometimes have trouble not dwelling on. I am really enjoying writing in this journal every night, and there has been a difference in everyday since I started it.
