I am a 1500 rated player hoping to improve to the next level, and while many of the ideas in this book were in the back of my head, I did not truly understand them until Stean directed me to those ideas through the choice of important games and great commentary. Most importantly, the author shows you how the players set out in the early part of the game to achieve a strategic goal, such as a 'knight outpost' and how that advantage won the game. I love this book.
