Overview

Many would-be stargazers are seeking do-it-yourself instructions to astrology--something that's advanced enough to give an in-depth reading, yet simple enough to master without being a rocket scientist. They can now happily end their quest for enlightenment with this comprehensive guide. They'll start with a beginner's introduction to sun signs (which, basic as they are, reveal more than you would imagine about what makes people tick), and then graduate to slightly more complex subjects like planets, aspects, conjunctions, and trines. Everything's explained in terms anyone can understand, and illustrated with charts covering all the signs of the zodiac. Throughout, the focus is not on the stars per se, but on what they say about our characteristics, personalities, and compatibilities.

Library Journal
Each of these three books provides simple, user-friendly information on a specific New Age topic. Christie (Your Secret Moon) looks at the importance of numbers in human relevance and fate, covering name, heart, destiny, and karmic numbers, to name a few; Greenaway (Practical Spellcraft: A First Course in Magic) addresses the significance of tarot cards-what each signifies and how they work together to assist individuals in determining their destinies; and the Jacksons (Astrology for Success: Make the Most of Your Star Sign Potential) focus on the signs of the zodiac and how they work together in relation to human existence and fate. All three books are extremely practical and illuminating while at the same time geared toward individuals who know nothing of the topics but are interested in learning more. The authors are knowledgeable in these areas and offer a great deal of information in a short amount of space. Suitable for all public libraries and for specialized collections dealing with New Age topics.-Brad Eden, Univ. of Nevada Libs., Las Vegas Copyright 2006 Reed Business Information.
