Meet the Author

Carla Bardi has written and edited more than 30 cookbooks on Italian and international cooking. Some of her more successful books have been translated into more than 20 languages. Bardi has traveled extensively throughout Africa and Europe, where she picked up many of her cooking secrets—from apple strudel in Vienna and génois in Paris and Bordeaux, to couscous in Morocco and Algeria. Bardi now lives on the shores of Lake Bolsena in central Italy, where she runs a small vineyard.

    Practical "Vegetarian" Cooking

Just to forewarn actual vegetarians--at least one of the recipes contains chicken stock (which seems silly to me when it's pretty easy to substitute mushroom-based stock).

On the other hand, the recipes I've tried have been fantastic and easy. I like that these dishes tend to be more "filling" than recipes from my other vegetarian cookbooks. I'm excited to try more.

I just got this book, and all of the recipes look so good, I might just have to make them all! There's nothing in here that is overly-complicated, and the ingredients are fairly easy to find especially if you have an Indian grocery store anywhere near you. I can't wait to make Austrian gnocchi!

This book has gorgeous photos and the recipes do not disappoint. Most of them are very easy, and the ones that I have tried have all been great.

    Great recipes!

Easy & delicious recipes. You don't need to be a vegetarian; you can always prepare them as sides.
