This album's bold claim to be Simply the Best Christmas Album may be overstating things a bit, but you do have to admit that it's indeed a stellar collection. First of all, there's no shortage of music here. The album weighs in at a whopping 36 tracks spread across two discs. Secondly, if you have a taste for classical music, you'll savor the music here. With few exceptions, Simply the Best Christmas Album sticks with classical and nothing but classical. Plus, it's not just generic classical but rather some of the better classical performers of the late 20th century. Plus, it's not just generic classical but rather some of the better classical performers of the late 20th century. It's also nice to see a few moments like Natalie Cole's "Holly and the Ivy" mixed in as well to help bring a sense of surprise and variety to the album.
