    Ignore that last guy. Nerd.

Sin City was graphic novel first, movie after the fact. To go back, before Bruce Willis and Jessica Alba, and find the true characters of Sin City is the point. This particular story didn't make it into the first movie, but that makes it all the more enjoyable.
