Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
Wacky fun awaits every child as they croon their favorite silly tunes with this awesome board book-and-tape set, which includes three favorite humorous classics: "The Lady with the Alligator Purse," "Miss Mary Mack," and "Skip to My Lou." Illustrator Nadine Bernard Westcott uses her wild imagination and a great sense of humor to fuel the fun of these silly songs. Illustrations are full of zany detail and quirky spirit. All of this is packed nicely in a sturdy box with handle. It's perfect for the car, long lines at the grocery store, or anytime the little ones need a great dose of hilarity.
Publishers Weekly
A trio of board books The Lady with the Alligator Purse; Miss Mary Mack and Skip to My Lou plus their words set to music make up the contents of Mary Ann Hoberman and Nadine Bernard Westcott's Sing-Along Songs: Three Books and Tape Set. A sturdy case with a plastic handle makes it easy to tote, and a Velcro closure ensures the books' easy accessibility for encore performances. (Mar.) Copyright 2001 Cahners Business Information.
Children's Literature
Three previously issued board books, Miss Mary Mack (adapted by Mary Ann Hoberman), Skip to My Lou and The Lady with the Alligator Purse, all illustrated by Nadine Bernard Westcott, have been packaged together with a tape. Those who remember clapping out the rhythms for this rhyme will enjoy this new adaptation in board book form of Miss Mary Mack. The playful illustrations extend the story until the little girl makes a pet of the pachyderm. All the neighborhood children play happily ever after in the elephant-shaped pool created when he falls from the sky. Hoberman never lets the rhythm fall and Westcott keeps up her end with humorous details. Skip to My Lou is a familiar old tune that kids will enjoy. The Lady with the Alligator Purse is a silly story but when the doctor and the nurse fail to make the patient well, our lady's recommendation for pizza seems to bring better results. The kids can read the books and then join in signing the songs. 2001, Little Brown, $14.95. Ages 3 mo. to 5. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot and Susie Wilde

    Love it!

My daughter is almost 2 and loves these books. She actually looks forward to bedtime so we can sing 'alligator!' We highly recommend these books! (even if I do find myself humming the lyrics at work because we sing them so much)

    Best for my fussy baby

I got this set when my daughter was 6 month old. She loves to listen to the tape from the first day on. When ever she gets fussy in the car I just pop it in and she is quiet again. I just wish it was a CD, so I could skip the no-singing part. Also, with just three songs (about 4-5 minutes) it can become a bit repetitive.

    Wonderful Sing Along

I got this for my son for his 2nd birthday. He just turned 3 a week ago and he still loves these books and the tape. He knows all the works and still loves to dance and sing to these wonderful books.
