Excelent compilation - great starting point

Boy, oh, boy! This is a marvelous single-disc compilation. This has all the greats! Not only is the music great, but listen to how it is presented! The production is GREAT for 30s recordings. Back then they had one mic and usually just a few takes, so I was willing to accept some bad sound. But alas! The mixes are PERFECT! And what a transfer, as well. The sound is basically pristine; they must have had the original masters! Oh, and for you drummers out there - listen to Gene Krupa's explosive drumming on "Sing Sing Sing"!
