It's hard to think of anyone who fills the rock realm's nice-guy niche more perfectly than Jack Johnson -- which makes the uber-mellow Hawaiian the ideal choice to spin a soundtrack for the film of this classic children's tome. Johnson's beckoning, low-key delivery ensures that the bouncy "Upside Down" sticks in the gray matter after a single listen, making it a bona fide "sing-a-long." He's just as capable in turning out the other genre that the disc's title promises: gently soothing tunes, such as a sweet reworking of the White Stripes' "We're Going to Be Friends," that elicit a smile, even as the eyes start to close. Johnson calls on some of his fellow travelers to lend a hand here and there -- frenetic Philadelphian G. Love encourages a bit of aerobic activity through his effervescent "Jungle Gym" -- but it's his good nature that propels the album. Naturally, Johnson seizes the opportunity to preach the green gospel, but he does so both sweetly and cleverly on "The Three Rs" -- a Schoolhouse Rock update that advises kids and adults, of course to "reduce, reuse, and recycle." File under: Inspired, G-rated Family Fun.
All Music Guide - James Christopher Monger
Perennial surfer dude/singer/songwriter Jack Johnson lends his voice to the eternally silent Curious George on this collection of "Sing-A-Longs and Lullabies", original material built around the famous monkey and his strange obsession with "the Man with the Yellow Hat." Universal Pictures couldn't have picked a better collaborator for this soundtrack to the Curious George film, as Johnson's easygoing delivery and breezy demeanor match George's silent curiosity to a T. Fellow songwriters Ben Harper, G. Love, and Matt Costa contribute three songs to the predominantly children-oriented affair, while Johnson and band give up an island rendition of the White Stripes' "We're Going to Be Friends," as well as the umpteenth cover of Schoolhouse Rock!'s "Three Is the Magic Number." Heady stuff? Not exactly, but there's not an ounce of pretense to the project, making it a fun, safe bet for kids and a forgettable -- yet not entirely unpleasant -- piece of escapism for adults.

Great CD for both the parents and kids

We love this CD. Curious George is a favorite in our house. Jack Johnson has created music that both the parents and kids can enjoy. The music is mellow and very enjoyable.

    I Also Recommend:

    Sing-Along songs

Definitely a great sing a long song. Not the typical kid sing along album or lullabye. Uniquely different that any adult could listen to over and over again. Especially like "the sharing song". It is catchy and with a good message. Never actually saw the Curious George movie, but songs here stand on it's own. THe album is not just kid's music but adults can enjoy it too. Jack Johnson writes great songs you can sing to!

    I Also Recommend:

The Man In The Yellow Hat Loves It Too

Kids all over the world identify with the curious little monkey and this CD of lullabies and sing-a-longs will only add to the love for George. The man in the yellow hat agrees whole-heartedly. Both lyrically and melodically, it's a winner. I played it at my sons recent birthday party and it was a hit with all the kids. I'll admit it, I like it, too.

    We Love It!

My 2-year old daughter and I caught the movie on TV one day and we were hooked. I love the music so much that I had to have the CD. Now when we listen to it she can tell you what's going on in the movie at each song. I also listen to it when she's not with me, the songs just make me happy.

My Kindergarten Class Loves this CD!!

I first heard this cd when I visited my grandson and we would dance to the first two songs before a nap. He loved the rhythm and I loved the memories I was making. I later began playing it for my kindergarten class as our "clean-up" song on Fridays after our "Read, Write, Draw" time. They loved it!! By the time the song had ended they were all cleaned up and sitting on the carpet for group time. I especially love to hear their sweet voices singing the familiar chorus!! It has become "our" song!! There are other songs on the cd about recycling and sharing that are wonderful songs for young children!!

curious george was a very cute film but the songs really did make it all that much better. catchy tunes make you want to sing along and they're great for everybody! jack johnson has a raw, soothing tone to his voice and the sweet sounds of the giutar in the backround compliment him nicely. If you like this CD try ...

I love this cd! It's more upbeat than Jack's other albums. Being 28 I didn't know what to expect from a Curious George CD, but I love it! It always makes me smile:)

    Curiously Gratifying

This is a terrific album. Curious George was the first movie I took my 3 year old son to see. He loved it! "Upside Down" stuck in my head then and the rest of the soundtrack does now. This is music you can enjoy with your children or when your alone in your car.

A great album for kids and their parents!

I highly recommend this cd. We bought it after seeing the movie and our 2 yr old loves it. He listens to it at naptime and at bedtime. My husband and I really like it too. It's a cool alternative to all the cheesy kids music out there. Lots of fun!

    Fun for the whole family

I've been a huge Jack Johnson fan since Brushfire Fairytales and was a bit skeptical when I heard he was doing the soundtrack for a children's movie. After listening to the entire album, I knew I had to add it to my collection. If you're a fan of Mr. Johnson, you will be missing out if you don't pick this one up. Not only is it as fun to listen to as his other albums, but kids will enjoy it as well.

    love it!!

Jack Johnson is amazing. I love all his music. This CD is great. Just because it's a Curious George soundtrack doesn't mean that it is for little kids. If you like Jack Johnson, you'll love this CD!

tremendous new effort from jack johnson great for adults and kids

i am a huge jack johnson fand AND i have 3 yr old twins. i bought this cd thinking between me and my kids, i'm sure one of us will like it and WE ALL LOVE IT! i bought the cd last week and have been playing it for the kids telling them we would go see the movie on the weekend. they hadn't been to a movie before so they were excited but didn't really know why. when we got in the theater and the 1st son, "upside down" started playing, my son began to dance and smile. they ask everytime we get in the car to play the curious george cd so they have no idea who jack johnson is but i wanted to say thati love this cd as well. it is classic jack johnson with the accoustic guitar that we all love so much. very good effort by mr johnson.
