"I bought this practice book for my son before. He didn't really like it because it is more challenging than regular US math. We quit after a couple of months and returned to regular US math book series.  As I was looking for a home learning site for him, his teacher recommended Beestar to us. It provides many programs including Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and its math program is especially free.  Then I subscribed to the math program. My son would complete its weekly math exercise on time. We surprisingly found the quality of exercise was much better than our expectation. Not giving too much repetitive work, the exercise is perfectly organized to help students go over what they learn at school. Many questions are very attractive. For example, it would give pictures of oranges to help students comprehend 11-2=? After all kids are usually unfamiliar with math words.  The reward policy of Beestar is very impressive as well. My son likes to win its ribbons. Since he is making progress very fast during the past few months, he's become much more confident than before. I believe he can get on the honor roll very soon. "

I was looking for some additional practice material for our smart 1 st grader... and since I had heard alot about Singapore math, I decided to give a shot.... I must say that though it says its appropriate for grade 2 kids... my daughter found most of the work( 90 %) of the stuff easy... she needed little or no help while doing the work. Only in one or two modules, she needed me to explain to her what was asked of her... and once she understood that, those were quite easy too... On the whole I do recommend this book

Oh he loved being challenged. The first grade ones are too easy for him. He knew most of the words and I don't even have to tell him some days to go get his workbook, which is the great part.
