Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
Gr 1-4-Everything about this collection of stories from the nationally broadcast radio show, The Pond, is excellent. Each of the 24 short, humorous stories written by Charlie Richards range from 8 U to 16 U minutes. They use situation comedy as well as funny punch lines to explain biblical teachings. The plots are clear and logical, yet refreshingly original. The characters are well developed, aided by the excellent voices provided by Bob Holiday and Mike Madeoy. The main characters are Floyd, a naive turtle, Tony, the cool frog, Bill, the comic duck, and Methuselah, the wise alligator. Even the minor characters, such as Cinnamon, the domesticated cat, are well developed. Music ranges from the perky theme song to the funky closing tune. The short episodes make for easy listening. Even libraries not looking for more religious education materials will want to add this to their audio collections for humorous stories that will delight both children and adults.- Cynthia Grabke, Thayer Public Library, Braintree, MA Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information.
