Sings for Lovers

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - John Bush
Unlike the famous Sinatra album, Rosemary Clooney is not singing for young lovers here. Sings for Lovers is a compilation of her latter-day work for Concord, encompassing the late '70s and '80s. Her excellent tributes to a range of influences -- Billie Holiday, Irving Berlin, Ira Gershwin, Cole Porter -- make up the bulk of this collection.

    A reviewer

Robust, Blue and Seductive,Rosemary Clooney sings her best on this compilation tribute to many of the great composers and singers of the twentieth century. Rosemary's superb artistry, musicianship and ability to personalize each phrase enable the listener to here the lyrics of each song as if we are hearing them for the first time. Perhaps the listener is hearing the songs as they were intended to be phrased. The listener is brought back to the many great years at of Miss Clooney's New York Club appearances at Rainbow and Stars, The Blue Note and Feinsteins.A must for any Clooney Fan of all generations.
