This is the most unique and creative stories I've read in a long time. Delle Jacobs has a knack for creating stories that are refreshingly different and hard to put down. I have yet to find a Delle Jacobs book that I didn't thoroughly enjoy.

Each of Delle Jacobs books is different, and it's always nice to be surprised by the stories she creates. Yet Siren is completely different from anything else she's written. Be prepared to drift into a beautiful fantasy set in the sea and in Hawaii during the time of the missionaries.
I read this book the day after I saw Pirates of the Caribbean IV, and in the movie, was most intrigued by the romance between the minister and the mermaid. I was also disappointed by not seeing that romance play out. Delle Jacobs' novella could almost be that story. In fact, the heroes in both name their loves, Serena. (Although I know the novella was written before the movie came out.
A lovely tale--perfect summer beach reading

A captain goes down with his ship, but not before seeing an ethereal redhead in the waves. He follows her, and what follows is a dream-like experience. Has he died, or not?
The style is different from a typical romance, but the story is definitely romantic. It reminded me of an old fairy tale, only with a story I'd never heard before, of the siren who calls men to the sea. It's all from the hero's point of view, which only adds to the mystery of what has happened to John Wall. I particularly loved the second part of the book, and the exotic setting, beautifully written. Definitely something different!

Overview
For seventeen years, John Wall has sailed the seas, braving storms and pirates to bring his cargo safely into port. Sometimes he sees the Siren and hears her clarion voice above the crashing waves: "Come to me, John Wall. Come to me."But the Siren's song is death, so John resists its lure-until the night he meets the King of Storms. Masts shattered, sheets ripped and sails torn, his men gone, John clings fiercely to the wreckage, defying death. And the Siren comes for him. "Come to me," her sweet voice sings.
Their lips locked in a kiss, John Wall ...
