    Highly Recommend

Hard to put down. I really enjoyed reading this book. Very glad all three books were combined into one book. Difficult issues handled well. I would recommend for my teenage daughter to read this book also. Could be a good mother/daughter book club read. I would want to read other books by this author.

I have very mixed feelings about this series. It is pretty depressing and deals with some very difficult topics including rape, mental illness, and birth control. All very difficult topics for an Amish book. I found it very frustrating when the characters jump to conclusions and hide important information from one another. The good thing though is that they (and we) learn from their mistakes in the end. It takes almost the entire series for them to learn, but they do.

There is tragedy as well as triumph. The characters are well developed and realistic. Their interactions are real in their diversity from the controlling to the loving. It is thought provoking, I could not wait to get to the end for the satisfying conclusion but did not want to miss any of the details leading up to it. The suspense kept me reading to see how each situation and relationship would be resolved.

I might have to reread it some day (after I catch my breath)

    I couldn't put it down!

This was by far my favorite Amish fiction book. My only regret is that I finished the book. The characters in this trilogy have been a part of my life these past 2 weeks.

    Sisters of the Quilt

Sisters of the Quilt is a compilation of three novels by Cindy Woodsmall. When the Heart Cries begins the story of Old Order Amish teen Hannah Lapp. She has fallen in love with Mennonite Paul Waddell who has proposed to her. However she has kept their relationship a secret knowing that their relationship will not be accepted by her family and community. One night Hannah is attacked by a stranger and her life changes forever.

In When the Morning Comes Hannah¿s story continues as she flees to Ohio in search of her shunned Aunt Zabeth. She meets Dr. Lehman and begins her life in the Englischer world studying to be a nurse. She also meets Martin Palmer and they become close friends.

When the Soul Mends is the final book in the series. Hannah¿s sister Sarah calls and begs her to return to Owl¿s Perch. Hannah must work with Paul Waddell to help Sarah¿s mental health. She also has to deal with the events and people that led her to leave her home and flee to Ohio. In the end she must choose between Paul and Martin which also means choosing between Plain life and English life.

I have never been particularly interested in Amish stories. Something about this series made me curious to read it and I am glad I did. The characters and the story were captivating and I could not put it down. The story is not only about Hannah but her family and friends in Pennsylvania and Ohio and how their lives interconnect. I will be looking for more books by this author.

I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review.

Recommend - but plan on reading all three books in the trilogy

The books are an easy ready and have an interesting story line. The three books complete the story, stopping after one or two would limit the enjoyment.

Boy was I wrong! I assumed Amish fiction would be about as colorful as the clothing they wore. This author is absolutely terrific! She captured my interest from the get-go; and I can't put the book down. I will read everything I can find by this author. I highly recommend this series to anyone who appreciates a clean story that is captivating.
