Sistersby Samme Gallaher, Aileen Gallaher
In 1926, beautiful Aileen Gallaher left California to join trapper "Slim" Williams in the wild Copper River Valley. Theirs was a perilous existence spent in isolated cabins, bucking heavy snows, uncertain river ice, and fierce cold. Yet Aileen fell in love with Slim and with the country, missing only female companionship. Enter Samme, her tenacious fifteen-year-old sister. Their lively and honest story details their emotional coming of age in a strange land that is still little known.

The authenticity and tenderness of this recorded shared adventure is a rare treasure. The "vintage" of time and lead characters create a treasure - the closure with historic significance, brings a balance to time well spent with this compelling read.
I enjoyed this book very much. I recently read 'Alaska Sourdough' by Richard Morenus (1956) about Clyde 'Slim' Williams and this finished the story. 'Sourdough' doesn't mention Slim being married! This completes the story. If you like reading about Alaska, dog sledding, cabin building, animals and how hard and dangerous it was, you would enjoy this book.
